Is your gauge cluster the original to the truck or just a factory style replacement? I have the same issue but with a new gauge so im wondering if that sender will fix it for mine. It is an aftermarket but its just like the original gauge.

Mine pegs out, with the new sensor

With it plugged up to the sensor it pegs out? Only supposed to ground the wire out only.

When I ground wire it only moves needle 1/4. Any suggestions?

I would start with getting a schematic and trace the wire to its point of origin and make sure it has good continuity all the way through the circuit. Make sure connections are good by unplugging and making sure there no corrosion.
