After Jahangir death - Shah Jahan killed his own brother and acquired Throne. Then reunited with sons. Then Aurangzeb education : Learned military tactics , politics, Islam. Prolonged talks with Islam experts. 2. Love towards Islam- becomes orthodox and conservative. He wants to dedicate his life to Islam. He used to pray during battlefield during war running. He neither fond of poetry or history or paintings because these are against Islam. 3. Bravery Nothing terror him . 4. Dara vs Aurangzeb. Dara said to be more secular and liberal. He is proficient in both Sanskrit and Persian. He translates some books from Sanskrit to Persian. Many Occasions Shah Jahan favors Dara to his throne and rejects Aurangzeb to his powers. 5. Also banned arts like dance, singing. These orders can't be executed fully since they can't supervise everything back in days. So he ordered to demolition of puri Jagannadh temple completely. But the officials there only shut the temple instead of abolishing. He never know about this. This temple opened again after Aurangzeb death. But many times his ordered is followed and many temples destroyed and Majid are established at same place. In 1969 as part of his political game, he said he won't destroy anything that already established but won't give permission to establish new temples. After 10 years everything changed. After 10 yrs, Rebellion started in beneras supporting Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj against Aurangzeb. Shivaji trying to establish a separate Marathi state. So attacked many Mughal territories. He attacked richest Mughal city SURAT also. So Aurangzeb sent Army and captured Sivaraj Maharaj. But because of Local people, he escaped. Aurangzeb reintroduced Jizya ( tax on non muslims) - Emperor Akbar removed this but Aurangzeb after a century reintroduced. Some people argue that Ashoka also forced people into Buddhism. Then why he is called hero. Persecution of Sikhs: During his power, Sikh gurus is increasing in their Sikh community and Aurangzeb introduced new policy which are in discrimination in nature. It leads to more conflicts and Aurangzeb ordered execution of Sikh Guru. Conclusion: We cannot judge historical figures based on current standards. And present day muslims are not accountable for the policies imposed on 3 centuries ago. We have the right to criticize but not to judge. Whatever they do, they do it to cement their political power.

He discusses the difference between census and survey. The previous government didn't include caste questions on the census. They did a caste survey. The census process has more controls to prevent errors. A census has to be completed in a month. In contrast, surveys do not have the same legal status and hence do not have the same controls for managing errors. The caste survey was done over five years. It is my understanding that a census can be done only by the central government. State governments can do surveys, not census. It would be great if you can do a follow up video that differentiates between the two and summarize what's learned from the census and surveys.
