Yes because your hands are wet, and the salt gets gunked up, and it takes way longer to pour salt and wait for the clam then it does to just suck it out using a clam gun

"First of all, you find little dimple, you come in, and dig... with a gun." Great tutorial, next time I'm going to a beach I'll bring my shotgun.

And I'll bring my clam rake into the woods next time I hunt. Deal?
@xXHydroDragonXx8 жыл бұрын
Sounds good to me. But for some reason, I feel like I'll have more success. It's exactly what the tutorial says for me to do. I don't know what tutorial you're referring to but "a clam rake into the woods?" That sounds ridiculous.

WOW!! I'm glad I found this video! I can say I was there! Use to live in Nikiski, now I'm in Oregon. Still miss Alaska. There is a uniqueness that I shall never forget. Unfortunately I was a little too "hung over" to participate In digging, but was a great spotter! Love the video! Thanks for sharing. And don't go clamming Hung over!

I don't know if Washington has razor clams specifically. You'll have to check with your state fish and game regulations.

Would be easier to carry salt then a weapon of mass destruction. I bet he even left the hole there for someone to break there ankle in. Its the beach, not a factory/war zone.

@promontorium ... it is called a clam gun (at least in Alaska). There are clam shovels aswell, but they look like... shovels. People use either tool.
@SIM0X9312 жыл бұрын
When you pour some salt on top of that hole that razor clam thinks that the water came back and it's safe to go out. Since sea water is salty. Simple.

That is a TUBE, not a clam gun. The clam gun is the narrow curved bladed short handled shovel. The tubes were first called shrimp tubes as they were first used to harvest sand shrimp to use for bait. I have been digging razors since 1950 and never heard of the tub being caned a clam gun until the mud 50's.

There is limit to how many you can catch in Oregon (15). And anyone over the age of 14 must have a license to catch them... Most people appear to enjoy them by frying them.
