This video will show you How to Disable Forced Auto Update on Samsung phone 2022.
And if you have another android phone you can use this trick to to stop automatic updates on Android.
- On your Android phone, tap Settings.
- Tap Software Update.
- Tap the gear cog.
- Tap Auto Download & Install.
- Tap Do Not Allow.
- Automatic OS updates are now disabled so you'll need to install them manually in future.

Yeah you are right I disabled autoupdates yet, it installs automatically apps that crash my phone due to being too big and updates apps that I only use 3 months out of the year for school etc... It's so unnecessary to bloat the phone more than a refurbished PC.

Just FYI this DOES NOT stop security updates on Samsung devices anymore, and has not for years. Just had another Security update forced this week, and this option has been turned off for quite some time.

when i go to the software update setting, i have two options, download and install, and last update, there is no option to turn off auto updates. i was late to work in my first week starting a new job because the phone updated while i was asleep and reset my morning alarms... i really wish i could choose when to update on my own....

Ok so my phone is Samsung A12 and I'm literally using it right now. So back a few weeks ago, I checked on my settings and it said there's and update available which is the new One UI 4.1 (Android 12) so I head to the software update settings and started the download. But, I then I thought that this may damage my phone like battery drain, optimization problems, etc. Then I quickly stopped it and until now, it's still like up to 7% or so and the time left is 17:14. Btw, I followed all instructions in the vid and still doesn't work. Samsung A12 Android 11 One UI 3.1 Any fix? Or anything I may able to delete update files?

Finally. I had to follow all the way though. Toggling on auto updates, then off and then to top and turn off. That was the final step and it worked at last.

None of these really work. At first I thought this one did, but they still FORCED the update. I'm beyond irritated & tired of samsung/galaxy. I won't be getting another one. Their forced updates also kills your storage then they'll try to blame you for your phone acting up saying that you've used too much storage as to why your phone is malfunctioning. NO, I had plenty of storage until the updates. They send a update almost every week. Actually, I just had 2 within the last 3 days. Tf! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

How do you tell if it's a forced update? I avoided the notification for months. Then it said "update ready" or something like that. I put my phone aside the next day, and it updated. I hate it. The blue tint! I'm going to pay a pro to flash it to put me on the old OS. Hopefully, he can do that + show me how to avoid all updates. I'll update my phone (when I need to), not my software.

@@kazman_6899 @Kaz Man _ Yes, I've avoided the notification for as long as possible too, but it eventually forced it. If it starts giving you that notification, but then you no longer see that notification asking you to update, then it probably already forced it. A lot of the updates you don't always see any visible changes to your phone. But when you open your screen and it takes your phone through the motions like it has been restarted or turned off, that means it has been forced updated. Also, most times it will usually prompt you a notification screen that says 'your phone has been successfully updated'. Let me know how it goes if you find a "pro" or someone that really can stop the updates.

@@akealgordari I'm wondering if it was a forced update. Personally, I think the culprit was pocket dialing. I know nothing about technology, but I can't believe there generally isn't a simple solution to this. I'm writing gibberish messages, calling random people and potentially agreeing to system updates in my pocket. Thing is, I avoided it for so long (well over a dozen times). I can't imagine it finally decided to do it automatically. I noticed my phone telling me an update was ready only after I'd had it in my pocket. I'm hoping to take it to be flashed to an older OS, and hopefully have all the automatic settings turned off. But I'd also like for the solution to last for more than a few months. The blue tint is killing my eyes. I went from having everything perfectly set to my liking to not wanting to use my phone anymore. It's not fair.

@@kazman_6899 If that's what you want to believe for you, then alright. My phone actually has a protection against pocket dialing. But I never have my phone in my pocket anyway. I keep my phone on my waist holster. And overnight it's on my night-stand and that's when most of the forced updates have happened. But it has also force updated while I was traveling on the road out of town and using gps. Which is a seriously terrible time to update.

the fix does NOT work. When I clikck on Software Update, the next screen does not give me the option to toggle off. Every one of the videos i watch does NOT works before the setttings are never the same. Even on exact models.

@@mro9086 I think there used to be an easier way to just purge pending system updates but I couldn't find a System Update app on Android 11 and just purging the data from the Google and Google Play Services app with a reboot didn't remove it. Thanks for the suggestion, a factory reset did the trick for deleting the pending update on my new S10+ and then I disabled the policy for security updates, disabled the policy for downloads over Wi-Fi and disabled the automatic updates developer option before I ever connected the phone to Wi-Fi or installed a SIM to keep it from downloading again. Hopefully that's enough to keep it from trying again.

What do you do if it doesn't have the disable auto update button? My phone doesn't have that option they don't want me to have a choice. I don't like the idea of a forced update that prevents you from calling 911 that you can't postpone more than 2 times. What if it did that while my house was being broken into? I'm on samsung ao2s and I will never get another Samsung in my life because my experience with this phone was so bad but I can't afford another one at the moment and I don't want to have to root my device but that's my only option that I can figure out which isn't a viable for my only device.

@ktlewis42 I checked and Samsung removed the ability to disable the auto download updates because it is not available even with developer mode. It only has the option to download it immediately or check for new updates not disable automatic download. Samsung is known for doing things like this, they have built in ads and bloatwear you can't disable along with the unwanted features of automatic downloads with no way to turn it off without rooting your device. I can't even disable the built in internet app to save space. I recommend never ever getting Samsung products again because the battery explodes in a year consistently with every model.

@@aussie8114 what I'm saying is the phone has no way to prevent it from going into a state that can't call the authorities in case of emergency. They removed the ability to stop updating your phone on the off chance something happens to you while your only phone is updating. The update makes it impossible to make and receive calls so what if your house caught on fire. Anything that can go wrong will at the worst possible time. You're Australian so what if you get bit by a venomous snake right after updating your phone now you can't call. Or the moment you turn the screen on you are out of postpone numbers so it makes you update it before you can call. And you live alone with only one cellphone. Forced software updates could a threat to public safety and should be illegal.

If ur not sure why we are getting forced updates it was there solution to prevent many from ever rooting, custom rooms, lower voltage aor increasing and over clocking your phone, removing bloatware and having fu control of ur phone. Sucks. In passed ios update 100% closed out current method for jailbraking which for a time was never disclosed in the update info ( lol).
