Absolutely great how to video. Any way to clean the piston and gas switch without removing the hand guard?

Appreciate you showing the whole bolt reassembly and firing pin installation. I cleaned my Spear after 500 rounds and wondered why on the next range visit I was getting no primer strike at all when shooting. Didn't realize I had to push it in slightly more, I neglected to push the pin safety lever all the way up and insert the pin to sit somewhat flushed. Thanks again, helped me troubleshoot tremendously!

The correct torque today (10/2024) on the handguard Screws is 45 inch pounds, as per Sig CS.

Do you HAVE to remove the handguard to depress the gas block plunger and remove the piston? Or can you insert a punch for the plunger and tap out the piston?
@ModernRifleman Жыл бұрын
Neither. There’s windows to stick your fingers through. Might need a screwdriver or something to force the piston out
@MarkyMan316 Жыл бұрын
@@ModernRifleman thanks for replying. Yeah that's not a problem as the SCAR is the same way. Just worried those screws would strip after awhile. So you can still keep the handguard on and get to everything you need to?

Very good video!

Nitpick. ONE handguard screw like HK, Maxim, etc. 6xxx-series upper is pretty soft, easy to damage.

Happy with my SIG MCX, despite’s its stated issues. Mine seems to not have that problem. I traded in my SCAR17S for this. Waiting for my Huxwrx 762Ti to get out of FFL jail. I think MCX Spear is just meant to be suppressed, and with a flo thru suppressor like Huxwrx. I do not miss the SCAR17, always afraid I was going to break something because I shoot suppressed.

I am also very satisfied with the MCX!

SCARs suppress great but yeah, my rear trunnion screws canted. Sent it back and got a new rifle.

My sig Spear is also good. But it seems like some batches of the spear have issues including magazine overinsertion issues.

It’s a 13 inch big speared and 308. The tightest device I have ever seen would negatively affect accuracy. I’m talking with the type they use. I don’t know how they been the barrel using God knows how many foot pounds to heat up crank it off. Baxter’s affecting it and getting that tube but it’s actually a much lighter system for 308. I really thought it would be. I thought it was gonna be a lot more heavy and heavy than it really is the bar taper keeps it more balanced, even though I don’t have a stock yet, it’s really not bad and people bitch about the way of pissing systems. I understand but it’s like to me the things like a Mercedes with every extra future plus some extras but I still think they should’ve contracted out. They’re charging handle too. GEISELE or radian just because , they make the best charging handles of the day not really for gas blowback as me being a lefty. I’ve heard good things about the firearm gets rid of gas.

Isn't there any kind of firing pin safety in this rifle?
@loganschmidt25523 ай бұрын
The latch nestled just behind the firing pin prevents it from slamming forward from inertia on bolt close. When the hammer swings up to the rear of the firing pin it kicks the latch up, allowing the firing pin to travel forward. Pretty similar safety to that of the M416 or M27

@@loganschmidt2552 Cool but I am more concerned to out of battery explosion, if the bolt is not perfectly locked.
