That was a one way trip for that outboard. His non directed approach will never get it back together... ever!

This is a good example of playing mechanic under the influence.

Not the most advanced techniques or tools, but thumbs up anyway. ;-) I just got one of this outboard motors yesterday. No service manual or specs. Learned a lot about the internals of this motors from your video. Thanks for sharing.

Torn my outboard apart to clean/fix, etc. It's amazingly good BTW. But one word of advise for any trying the same stunt. Bring some flowers to your wife, after using the dishwasher to clean outboard parts... It's a good marriage test. :-) LOL

crpth1 I do the same... all started with using the oven cleaner foam from a dollar store.

There is a difference between a SOCKET and a WRENCH lol He seems so amazed and confused at the same time. I thank you for the tear down, Maybe next time you should tear it all down using a vise, put it all back together then film it again {Just so you know} Thanks :)

hello there.. what year is this motor from?? and do you remember the partnumber on the ignition coil??
@allensnook7760 Жыл бұрын
Yup totally broke down the whole thing,seeing those rod cap bearings floating around the block and seeing the burned side on last to remove piston tells me all i need to know it was junk to begin with!!still kinda cool to see complete tear down,course piston and crank could have been fixed or replaced and motor still salvaged but that wasnt the title.it wasnt a rebuild more or less autopsy, that was cool to see even that small a block had freeze plug in its side.💥👍👍👍🤪💥

Love your videos. Have been very helpful. I think I have seen all the relevant vids on the morots I have. Do you know if can I put a complete powerhead from 1976 Johnson 4 HP (4R76M) on a 1978 model (4806E)?

@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor Hello Peter, Do you intend to reassemble the engine or was it for parts only? I'm working on a 1972 Evinrude 4hp similar to yours but waiting for gaskets to arrive. Can't wait to see how it runs.

I like seeing these vids of motors being torn apart, but dang. Have u ever dissasembled a motor before? Cause they way u do some of these things is way wrong and could damage the parts worse.

So the water tube goes from the pump up the shaft and just terminates against the side of that housing? How does the water return back down and blow out the exhaust? The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to make sure it's pumping water so I don't burn out the motor.
@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor4 жыл бұрын
Yes.
@d1991d19912 жыл бұрын
I have the same question now, can you see with this engine if the water pump is working when you are on the water? I don't think so right??? I think the water comes right down trough the shaft and goes out at the bottem so not at the top as with most outboard engines???

Lol at everyone commenting on this video about the brutality of the tear down. It's not intended to go back together so who cares?! Those of us who have a vested interest about the internal workings of an outboard were thoroughly entertained. As for myself, I learned a lot looking at how the components interact with each other. Thanks for posting!

I enjoyed this video. Who was the fellow doing the job? His accent was pleasant and I was wondering where he was from or where this video was filmed. The crow cawing was a nice touch, as were the songbirds too. I'll check out more of your videos. Thanks, Terry
