I just got one of these and I watched this video and for the most part it’s all still relevant . There were some hardware “upgrades “😂 in the form of screws for the springs instead of just pins holding the ends. Mine is green vs. your kind of red here and there 😂. Thanks 👍🏻

Hello from Vermont. I’ve been checking out your videos for years now without one of these patchers and I stumbled across one at a scrap metal yard as it was being loaded into a crusher. The operator got out and charged me $10.00 metal weight. I’m planning to rebuild her

I appreciate not only your voice, but the entire key in the videos is the picture of the position of the shuttle when it stops turning counter-clockwise and the downward direction of the needle. Depth of the needle also. had to adjust the cam timing slightly also. I was lucky to set it up properly the first time, but hadn't cinched everything down and broke a needle and that threw everything off. leaving it sitting there for two years did not help it repair itself. Finally found the time . Ten or fifteen minutes of Watching the thing and Identifying the cycles and setting the shuttle was key, but setting the cam timing wrong helped me to set it right, and I'm way down the rabbit hole of mods on this thing as it works like a charm! Thanks!

I have a project coming up that involves a lot of leather stitching. I don't know how to sew, but i love learning new skills. One thing I might mention is with the advent of cameras in cell phones, before you disassemble the sewing machine, take lots of pictures so when the time comes to reassemble you know what it original looked like. Great video. Thanks. And I will subscribe to your channel.

Harrison, for your next Q&A, could you show how to diagnose and adjust the bobbin and top tread tension in order to get the knot at the middle of the material being sewn? My machine came with /69 and when I stitch leather, the bobbin thread is very loose so as the knot coming out at the top of the material. Great video series!

I was able to pop mine out with a screw driver. After I remove the shaft, I took the screw driver on the back side to catch the back edge of the bearing, then hit the screw driver with a hammer. It took a few good wacks but I was able to get it out. You might have to work around the bearing to free it up. PB blaster or WD-40 helps to free it up too

Help. Subscribed. I disassembled the machine, polished all the parts, reassembled it by reversing everything in this video, and it runs quiet as a church mouse, but my walking foot does not walk. It stays in one spot and the needle goes through the same hole. What causes the walking foot to advance. It looks to me like the slotted short bar has a tapered bottom that the springs are supposed to pull the foot forward while the foot is in contact with the leather while the needle is in the up position. What did I do wrong to keep the foot stationary? You have an excellent series and I appreciate the time you have spent making it.

Harrison, When the presser foot is situated for the leather to go away from me, the needle is centered between the presser foot. If I turn the presser foot 180 degrees, the needle is really close to the side of the presser foot. Is there an adjustment for this?
@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks

You can try adjusting the presser foot, but I don't think that will help because it starts centered. Sounds like a bent needle or needle driver.

@@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks thanks for the response-- I've got the needle post down even with the top--- the thread is 135 from bantam and also the lighter weight that came with the machine?? --- -- needle is what came on , size unknown --- the top thread is immediately jammed between the bobbin case and compartment wall or stuck under the case -- the opening in the bobbin case lines up perfectly with the needle as it starts back up
@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks
@MainelyAcresFarmBrooks 4 жыл бұрын
The needle that came with the machine is too small to run the 135, but it should run the thread that came with just fine. It sounds like the timing is set to the correct position. The only think I can think of is the needle bar depth. Maybe this will help: The issue may be that the needle driver depth is not set correctly. To ensure that your needle driver is in the correct location you’re going to place your index/pointer finger under the hole on the bottom side of the sewing arm. With your finger in place slowly move your flywheel in one complete rotation. If the needle comes through the hole and starts to drive into your finger you need to stop moving the flywheel or back your finger away from the hole. (I don’t want any negative comments with people piercing their fingers because they went to fast with the flywheel.) If that happens your needle driver is adjusted to low. You should only feel the tap of the needle when your needle drive is adjusted correctly. (When I say a tap I mean that you can feel the needle, but it does not hurt or poke through the skin. If you see blood then your needle is too low!!) If your finger is in place and you don’t feel anything; your needle driver is adjusted too high.
