@@janetm16jm heya! My fish did fine. I was running this in a 20 gal. Shortly after I stopped using the refills because I hit a bout of depression. But the plants did like it while it lasted! I'm about to set up a new tank, I purchased the paintball co2 regulator from GLA. :) How big is your tank?

I live in South Korea and use this product all the time, for small setups that are less than 10~20 gallons. It works well, creates a lot of CO2 and lasts longer than diy system with sugar and yeast. Though I have a high pressurized CO2 system for my 100 gallon tank. So for smaller setups, this product is well recommended.

@@biofreshwater I make the gelatine base with sugar(1 liter water, 150grams sugar and gelatine) and then when cools off put warm water with yeast on top and a bit of sugar, u can add some sunflower oil to the end so that is not producing to much foam. 👍

@@asasinofull hi, ive been using diy co2 for couple months and i dont use gelatine base, it can produce co2 for at least 1 week, and after that the pressure become low and i had to replace it with new liquid sugar and yeast. now i wanted to try with gelatine base, but i still have many question about it, i hope you can help me. what is the function of the gelatine base? does yeast can eat the sugar from the gelatine? and how about the stability of the pressure that its produce?

@@barunayoung8516 The sugar inside gelatine is not expose all at once to the yeast, so the yeast eat gradually the sugar and the co2 last longer and is more stable. Last time I used 2 3litres bottles joinned toghether.

How do you regulate the C02 when the lights are off. As someone who has a low tech planted tank, I want to try this type of C02 system but my understanding is that it should be turned off when lights are off and come on 2 hrs before lights come on which is usually done with a solenoid on high tech systems. So how are you running this system without risk of too much CO2 overnight?

I use this system for 27 L tank. As I mentioned you need source for oxygen! Because it’s 24/7 co2! If there is not enough oxygen you can harm your fish

If there's no fish you don't need to worry! If you do add fish, try a 10 gallon air pump and get a line splitter, you can adjust that to release air to control the flow strength. :)

Some diffusers require high pressure especially the ceramic ones. Some diffusers are only meant for pressurized setup and not DIY setup.

@@patrickufkes It is definitely a ceramic diffuser. The pressure built up is dependent upon the quantity of yeast added. Less yeast added will take forever for pressure to build up. Some reasons could be 1. Less yeast added. 2. Possibility of leakage. 3. Very low room temperature(Because of which yeast has slow metabolism). 4. Using hot water more than the recommended temperature (will actually kill some of the yeast). 5. Using cold water or lower than recommended temperature for yeast activation (will take longer for yeast to activate). 6. This setup takes time to build up(sometime upto 24 hours depending on your room temperature). Maybe you might have not given sufficient time for the solution to get started. Note : I have not used this setup/kit so I don't have the complete understanding of this system. I have only worked with DIY co2(yeast and sugar).
