So with that Anvil brush, one trick I came across was to take super glue and just super glue the tops of the bristles (near the handle) that way they won't come off and fall in the paint/coating. Probably still worth buying the other brush but just a tip for the future with those types of brushes.

I was so stressed to get the same consistency each time that i mixed more but just want to say it didn’t matter. So easy. I mixed with a kitchen whisk. I only had an area about the size of two doors so i mixed a little at a time. If it’s thin, go over it again. Easier than I expected.

My house is huge too... How long did it take exactly? I saw one couple using a sprayer. Looked great. Saw another man trying to use a sprayer (he said NO) lol I'm so OCD - I would probably do it all myself. Your house looks gorgeous.

What’s the square footage of your home? And did you cover the back as well?

It’s about 4,700 finished space inside. Only the front is brick, the rest is siding!

Looks great but honestly, more DIY and way more cost effective is to buy a 50lb bag of hydrated lime from HD or Lowes and mix it with water. Cost me $11. Would cost you less than $50 (incl other equipment) to do the whole house. RomaBio is WAY overpriced and for the same amount of work mixing batches you can save a ton.

When it rains, does the white seem to darken and look more transparent? I did a DIY lime wash too for the same reasons you did but I bought a cheap bag of powder lime and just mixed with water. It looked great when done like yours but within 2 years, all the places that are exposed to rain the most are completely washed off so I’m thinking I just didn’t use the right ingredients. There’s gotta be more than just Lime and water in this product. Did yours hold up to the weather so far? If so, I’m going to redo mine the way you did it. Let me know how yours has held up so far please!

I'm doing this currently with our house. Bought a bag of lime powder. I noticed that after it dried, I hit it with some water and the white goes transparent, then dries back to white. Looking for answers like you as well haha.

Due to the acid in rain, the lime will eventually wash itself off in places that gets the most attention from it. It natural for the product to act that way and can always be re-brushed.

I’m not sure how long or what’s recommended but can tell you that I had the diluted mixture with the lid on for about 4 months and used on this first house, a friends house, and our new house. All good size brick front homes and that initial big bucket of limewash went a long way!

As long as it is stored a normal temperature with water on top of the material, it will last for a really long time.

ROMABIO and Home Depot should be ashamed at their prices. $250 for a bucket of what is basically lime putty with a drop of some unneeded solvents is downright dishonest. Historically, limewash was just about the cheapest thing you could paint your house with.
