Just happened to watch your video because it looked different .. group of ladies doing exterior paint. Didn't watch it in the middle, and sound was muted on my laptop. Then jumped to comments. Here I found the best part. Your responses were so genuine. You didn't pretend to know all. Will watch your other videos during Christmas holidays.

Looks great ladies! For those willing to do this, you can also do it on the cheap with a bag of calcium from L's or HD. I did it with a 2 part water, 1 part lime mix and it is more opaque than Kerri's, but still shows some of the underlying variation in the brick (ours was ugly concrete gray). You can thin it out according to taste. It's super easy and adds so much interest. If you hate it, you can power wash it off before it totally cures in a few days. Good thing, you can paint over it if that's your preference, or you can tint it according to taste, as well. You'll be so proud and you will save thousands of dollars.

Question. After you do this, is it a yearly maintenance thing? I don't want to have to redo the process each and every year 😞🙏
@keithdunwoody1302
@keithdunwoody1302 Жыл бұрын
@@araina5896 No. Every 5-7 years is the durability from what I've heard. But the repaint will be much easier and quicker. In the interim you might have spots that need touch up like I have (eg. window ledges where rain runoff hits) which is super fast and easy. Just make up a small batch and slap it on. To me it's totally worth it.

Why can I use a 4 inch roller or even a 6 inch or larger well that causes an hour affect and then come back with the brush after I roll it or have my guy brushing it as I’m rolling it on with the same mixture?

No, you can only paint again over painted brick. Limewash won't be able to penetrate the paint. It needs to bond to the brick.

you showed the front of the house that looked great , so I really wanted to see the "after" on the front . However, on the side the white wash looked great but not the aged antique white siding . what was the name of paint , no one mentioned that?
@KerriLawless
@KerriLawless 4 жыл бұрын
We actually put off taking the picture of the front of the house because the landscaping still had not been done and then we completely forgot about it and we posted the video, sorry about that. Also, the color of the siding looked antiqued in the after pictures and I have no idea why. It is white just like it was in the before pictures but somehow it looked dirty or antiqued in the after pictures. I wish there was a way to add in better pictures so you could see but I can’t change it now. If you join our Facebook group, let me know and I will try to get some good after pictures of the front and the side so you can see it. As far as the paint color goes I don’t remember offhand and I’m having a tough time finding the can but when I do I’ll comment back here and let you know. Thanks so much for watching!

So no need to prep the brick beforehand? Also, how long would you say this would last on the house?...10 years or so?
@KerriLawless
@KerriLawless 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tiffany, the only prep we did was making sure the house was pressure washed and clean. As far as how long it will last, we did parts of this house almost 3 years ago and there has been no change whatsoever. I would guess that it would last for many years to come since it has been so durable, but it hasn’t been on the house long enough for me to say for sure.

Because brick is so porous, you can use house paint like we did and it will stick. I’m not sure about the white wash products you are referring to because I’ve never used them, but I would assume that they are meant for particular types of surfaces where waterwd down paint would not adhere. Hope that helps! If you read the can on the products that you’re talking about, you should be able to get a little more information as to what they’re intended for

I first started this project 2 1/2 years ago on a small section the very front of this house and it looks just as good as the last section that we just completed. It’s shows no sign of wear whatsoever. Probably due to the fact that the brick is so porous and the paint literally soaks into the brick

@jares0228
@jares0228 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience I would highly recommend being pressure washing the brick first and then waiting a few days if necessary but generally you can get started right away we even use pump sprayers and keep our break wet not dripping but just moist where the pores are soaked up and then we roll it and use brushes to spread it out. But that’s just our method everybody has their own we also start from the top and work our way down it’s just a good general rule of thumb for brick work when you’re mixing 50-50 of water.

As far as I know, this finish cannot be sprayed. It needs to soak into the brick and it requires the brush in the water to push it around and into the pores of the brick.

You can spray it with a 513 tip about 18" to 24" away from the wall and use a clean soft shop broom or a nylon 4" brush for smaller spaces with extension pole to work it into the grooves.
