@@CaptBurgersonAwesome video, but a liiitle incomplete. The techniques aren't mandatory casually but speedrunwise, they sometimes are not an option, but a necessity. The wave beam charge combo, known in the community as X-Factor, is the best way to quickly deal with bosses, but its really hard to aim right. Well-timed crystal flashes make it possible to do reverse boss order. Still, very entertaining video

@Snacker6 17 күн бұрын
I did want to mention there is a point right at the end of the game where the Crystal Flash is appropriate to use. Without giving away spoilers, it is where you are drained of all your health and then left that way. You do have to manually use your reserve tanks in order to do that, as they are not drained automatically in that scene Though it is still useless, as there is a place to recharge your energy right after that, but it is still fun

It's important to note that when doing the crystal flash, you must have at least 10 missiles, 10 super missiles, are 11 power bombs.

I have no idea why I did everything he said and still the crystal flash didn’t work I held on the buttons and tried to press the buttons at different times and still it didn’t work. @@goob6355Another thing that isn’t mentioned when doing the crystal flash is that you must have less than 50 energy to do it. This means nothing in your reserve tank, no extra e-tanks and below 50 health. And it does work on the switch version I have tested.

Some important notes I'd like to point out: - Samus has no IFrames during a Crystal Flash. If an enemy walks into you, you'll take an absurd amount of damage, and the healing most likely won't be able to make up for it. - I always struggled with horizontal Shine Sparks as a kid, so if you're struggling, try this: If you hold A instead of tapping it, Samus will hover in the air for a brief moment before launching. If you press forward during this time, Samus will launch forward. This is also helpful for trying to initiate Sparks in mid-air, which you can do by pressing R during a spin jump (though you have to let go of it before you try to spark)

Great video! You forgot the spazer charge beam combo which makes sparks circle around Samus and then rain down. I think you’re right the wave beam combo is most versatile. Crystal Flash is really cool but I feel like it’s rare you would be less than 50 health AND in a safe spot to use the technique.

I'm curious as to what would happen if you do it with enemies around you? I've only done it in safe places and can't imagine monsters being able to interrupt it anyway, but I'd love to try it out.

@@Lordcamilli Samus has no s during a Crystal Flash, so she'll take damage for every frame an enemy is in contact with her. It's very possible that you'll die instantly that way, so they can be very risky to pull off.

While it's not an advanced technique, an often overlooked one is the Moonwalk option in the settings. It allows you to walk backwards while shooting. There aren't a whole lot of situations where that even comes in handy, let alone is necessary, but it's fun to try.

When shinesparking horizontally, make sure you HOLD A, and then immediately hold left or right. Pressing the direction first results in a somersault, while letting go of A before pressing the direction just results in an upwards shinespark.

Charge Beam by itself (w/o any other beam selected) let you charge it until you glowed, then jump and act as a low-grade Screw Attack. This was useful if you had to jump up or down to platforms where some enemy was camping out, but you couldn't shoot them. You could play the whole game without it, but it was yet another interesting move.

I'm sure someone has pointed this out already, but iirc after you trigger a charge beam combo you can change your equipped beam and the already-released projectiles will change to match that beam output. So release an ice beam bomb and switch to plasma for a more effective shield, for example.

I struggled with learning how to walljump properly once I figured out it could be done. The problem I had was that I was always trying to press jump and the direction I wanted to go at the same time. It doesn't really work this way. If you spin jump into a wall and then just let her fall down, slightly tap the other direction and you will see her plant her feet on the wall. The direction is what preps her to do a walljump. Then you press A immediately after the direction and she will kick off. The window of time is VERY small. Just learn to slightly delay the A button press after the direction press and you'll figure it out.

@tatecheddar 20 күн бұрын
I've had issues with this in the past as well and I'm pretty sure it has to do with how you do your jump. If you simply press A she will jump straight up and will not spin. If you press A and then press a direction she will also jump without spinning and move in that direction. The Space Jump cannot be used while she is jumping like this. You must press A while holding a direction for her to spin while jumping and this is the only way for Space Jump to activate. It can be frustrating, but you eventually get used to it.

Back before internet everywhere you had to have a magazine subscription to Nintendo Power to get all the intel on features like this. Or a friend who did. Or trip over them by accident. If you had Forbidden Jutsu knowledge of a game you became a god on the playground for a few days. Now we can exist in a Schrodinger's box of knowing everything and nothing at the same time. 0:41 He says these moves aren't mandatory and are outclassed by some other items and equipment later. However if you play randomizer the beam combos are actually quite useful. I had a seed recently where I had to enter a room with two giant sidehoppers without any upgraded suits, and no E-tanks. I used the beam combo since I had power bombs, plasma beam, and charge beam. It was able to wipe out the sidehoppers without me getting killed since they would have easily taken me out in 1-2 hits, losing some progress. Crystal Flash is a rare one to need, but can be useful in a pinch. And I'm certain that assessment didn't apply directional shinespark which is frequently used by speedrunners and randomizer racers.

@@CaptBurgerson I am late but I think he means the crystal flash due to either him remapping his buttons or the SNES on switch version. (I haven't tested if it works on switch but that's why I'm here on this epic video again.

@@sanspewpew I actually recorded my footage on Switch, just for ease, so it does work! but I said at the beginning about the button mapping, so if that is the case they weren’t paying attention I guess haha. Thanks for watching the video! Hope you found it helpful!

How is the free when you have to pay for the service? You can't play the game without paying a monthly fee. Also, I found a bunch of videos showing how to do this and some of them are all way older than this, by a decade. But better late than never right?🤦

Great video! No mention of the short Shinespark? I'm playing Subversion 1.2 (should have called it Kuntroid), there's SO MANY unty things in this hack. The Shinespark seems to work when it wants to. Never had such a hard time Shinesparking. Idk if the dev has an upgrade in the game for super short Shinespark or they're just an obnoxious a hole, but some of the SS blocks are in areas where there's little to no room to run up to speed. It seems a LOT of youtubers cheat their way through a lot of these rom Hacks. Maybe the only way to play this one is with cheats? That's wack impo. I don't like using cheats. Anyone else out there play Subversion and have issues with Shinesparking?
