Great video again Brad! Hey just a heads up on how I take care of my rotation. Americas Tire Depot offers a LIFETIME Wheel Balance and Rotation for only $60 or so and I think the balancing on this is the main thing to think about. I do it every 5,000 mi or so and i can definitely see a difference after the balance and rotation. It covers it for the life if the tire so I can't go wrong with that. Just wanted to throw that out there for you. By the way, Americas Tire Depot will sell you the lifetime balance/rotation on any tires even if you didn't purchase the tires from them. Just drive in and tell them you want to purchase that package. I hope this helps. And Jeep on!

2016 JKU all my tires are the same model, done the rotation at 3.5 K mile and 8K miles and all is well. I'm looking at going with Cooper tires in 33 inch, I only have a 2 inch lift and I'm happy with it. GO NAVY

Thanks Brad, great video since I just added the very same Cooper tires. I will make sure to do a 5 tire rotation constantly. I also just order the same wheel spacer for my spare. Very glad to know you haven't had any issues so far.

Good video again, glad you showed how you did it. When we bought our Jeep the previous owner did not rotate so unfortunately our spare is brand new, bummer. Gonna have to buy 5 new ones next year.

Thanks you! What size tires you thinking about getting next year?
@glynnbaker54488 жыл бұрын
I was thinking 285 70r 16 or 17, I didn't want to mess around with re-gearing or spacers. Or put too much stress on CV joints and the like. I'm told that tyre size should be ok. It's either Kumho AT's or BFG AT's KO2's. I like the look of both of those.

Great vid! I completed the five tire rotation today in just under 60 mins. Saved some $$ and putting that spare to use to get some extra life from these shoes! Appreciate the instruction! Thanks!
@Wooskii16 жыл бұрын
nice video, your drawing made it clear to me why the tires and move in this pattern; the right rear(↘) tires always slide forward to the ↗, then flip direction and switch sides to the ↙, again sliding forward this time to the ↖, after which they will be put back as the spare and start again. Cool how a simple sketch can put tire wear/direction into perspective.

Great video. Now I have a plan! Question: I just went from 33s to 35s. How do I determine the proper around-town air PRESSURE? Thanks!
@TrailRecon Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful. There is not official rule about what psi to air down to as it depends on your vehicle weight and tire ratings, but one thing you will hear mentioned a lot is 15psi with a max of 15mph

Rotating is SOOO important with bigger tires. I neglected rotating my SST's for 12,000 miles and I thought my steering was shot. I had them rotated and rebalanced and they're good as new, and my steering is too!

Another great video. I just passed 3k miles on my JKU sport with stock tires and figured I would check the manual for a tire rotation schedule. The manual surprisingly states the following. "The full size spare is for temporary emergency use only. This tire may look like the originally equipped tire on the front or rear axle of your vehicle, but it is not. This spare tire may have limited tread life. When the tread is worn to the tread wear indicators, the temporary use full size spare tire needs to be replaced. Since it is not the same as your original equipment tire, replace (or repair) the original equipment tire and reinstall on the vehicle at the first opportunity." Ill have to run out later today and verify the model numbers since I had planned on doing a 5 tire rotation.
@TrailRecon8 жыл бұрын
+iovnow242 That is very interesting! I've been doing 5 tire rotations with my stock tire and now this Coopers. Please let us know if there is a model number difference on the OEM tire.
@iovnow2428 жыл бұрын
I saw nothing on my stock 29" street tires that would indicate the spare is any different than the others. Maybe that verbiage is something standard in all of Jeep's manuals.
@RockTrooperJeep8 жыл бұрын
I don't believe this relates to the Jeep 5th tire. These are full size tires, not spares. The factory 5th tire is identical to my other 4 when I got my 13 Rubi
@hbarias8 жыл бұрын
iovnow242 The fifth tire on my 2016 sahara has a somewhat circular/oval rubber mark on it and I always wondered why it was there. Maybe they mark it that way so that we know which tire is the designated spare and not confused them with the other tires. I'll have to check the manual when I get a chance.

Great video. Quick question I have a 2016 with 15k miles currently I have rotated my tires at dealership but they have only been rotating the four. I checked the tread depth on my bfg's and they are all wearing evenly and only have a 1/32 difference compared to my spare 18/32 vs 19/32 my question is if the difference being only 1/32 wear is it okay to start rotating in my spare? Thanks and thanks again for the great videos.

Like your videos, thanks. I have a question though. Have you had any problems with tire separation? I worked in a tire shop, years ago, and we were told never, ever reverse direction on radial tires. We were told that it will lead to separation between the belting and tread, causing "bubbles" to develop in the tread area of the casing. Maybe the technology has advanced enough to not have to worry about it?
@TrailRecon8 жыл бұрын
That's pretty interesting about reversing the radial tire direction, I've never heard of that before. I know some tires are direction specific, but these Coopers are universal. I've never had any problems with this or my last set of tires, but good knowledge to be aware of. Thank you for share that information!
@roberttodd87088 жыл бұрын
By reversing direction i mean that once a tire is ran, lets say, right front then it is moved to left rear. the tire is now running in the reverse of where it began. We liked seeing you get up our way when you hit the Cleghorn area and High Desert. We are looking forward to getting down to the San Diego area to get some Diego Dirt stuck under our rides. Thanks again for the vids.

Question about the weight of the 315's on the stock rims ... how much does each tire and wheel combo weigh? My stock 255-75-17 on stock rims weighed in at 59 pounds where as my AEV rims and 315 Nitto G2's weigh a whooping 108 pounds. Thanks
@TrailRecon8 жыл бұрын
I haven't actually weighed them, but I do know that I added 17lbs per tire when I upgraded to the 315's. It's the price we pay for big shoes!

I run aboit 30 psi cold and they warm up to a driving psi of about 33. They are amazing tires! Wouldn't think twice when it comes time to buy tires again. They hook up perfect offroad also and balance great for on road driving. Only bad thing I could think of which isn't really bad is that they are a little heavy. Heavier than other 35s on market, about 81lbs each.
@marc_benton8 жыл бұрын
