I have a LIFESAFER playlist of other videos on my channel about the device if you find any helpful. I put a film for heads up display on my windshield with a phone holder mat so I could see it when it says to do a test. Also have the preheat video about how to warm it up by turning the key on and then back off and pushing the x button to cancel when you are getting ready to go for the day. The preheat method lasts about 30 minutes or longer to make it less wait time in the car hot or cold. Hope all goes well with your interlock and rember you can not leave your interlock / car not started for a period of time because it will get a dead battery and you will fail your compliance time. I replaced mine with a O'Reilly super start platinum and also had a friend use the same battery and it lasted him about a month before actually dieing and causing issues.

I got my device started for my driving test. Then got locked out during the test and couldn't finish. I go back tomorrow so I've been practicing starting my car. I've still been struggling with it. Watched this video and it worked! Really wish I'd of known the V sound trick from the beginning! THANK YOU
@StealthyWolfDaddyWerewolf Жыл бұрын
One other trick I know for the device is if you want to avoid the 2 minute warm up. You can go to the car a little early while getting ready to go. Turn the key to on and power up the device, then turn the key off and push the button that does the x / cancel. After you cancel the power up with the key off, it will warm up the device for either 15 to 30 minutes so you don't have to wait the complete warmup in a cold car. Also know it is best to have a good battery that can pass a load test and stay charged for over a week. If your battery goes dead and does not hold a charge you can get a violation and it will make you have to restart the whole time having the interlock. You can get a Norco battery trickle charger for 50 to 80.00 where if you leave your car for a long time it will keep it charged. I also bought a super start Platinum battery from O'Reilly with higher cca that would fit in my car. That type battery was also bought for a friend's car. He left his car for over a month with the interlock and the battery died just before he got back and he had a issue. It's almost 300.00 for the battery but it will last over 3 years, always start your car and stay charged. Along with having enough energy to start the car if the radio or lights are left on for a longer period of time. The Norco charger can be installed into the battery terminals with a clip on off connection for the charger or install the charger like you would a block heater and plug it in to stay charged for a while. I have not tried the different ones yet. But I believe you can keep your battery trickle charged at a low amperage without any problems with the interlock. It's good to ask them if you can too, because I never got to that point and found out how bad it was to have that occur. Also know if you take your car in for service to immediately call lifesaver and let them know when your car is in service and out so if they fail a test you will be okay. Some shops don't explain that because they want to make extra money :)

I am having one installed soon. I am dreading it. I originally had an intoxilock device installed and could not get it started since i have a COPD and asthma. It triggered my lung condotion badly. I have a drs note from my pulmonogist requesting that they lower the breathing scale or whatever its called. How many times does this device beeps while driving. Intoxilock beeped ever 10 to 15 mins and another reason why i had it removed. There is no way i can drove and have this device beeping every 10 to 15 mins. I will either have a panic attack or get into a car accident or both! Please advise. Thank you!

First time it beeps, then another soon beep then later durations. It's the best device as far as smart start and intoxolock. Only problems I had was making sure the installer / service place was trustable. I had a good place I calibrated at so all was good with that.

Im so stressed out with this thing. I have the draeger i guess its intoxalock. Got it installed yesterday. idk whether its my anxiety acting up or im not blowing hard enough or im just doing it wrong but its been taking a few tries to get it done each time to where i get even more anxious to where i almost dont want to drive. Ill try this technique. Im hoping it will work better. Im determined to figure it out as i do want to be driving confidently but its frustrating when it takes 4 or 5 tries then u run out of breath completely. This seems like may work easier
@StealthyWolfDaddyWerewolf Жыл бұрын
The intoxalock requires a long breathing out and long breathing in procedure. In whatever order it tells you to. Lifesaver is the easier ones to use. You can't use the fast breathing procedure on the intoxalock. The smart start is also different. That's why when I did need one I got this one. Good luck with that and if you have to get a different one, this one is the one that will work without issues once you get the procedures down.

I had the intoxalock installed one day and got locked out within 5 minutes went back and got it uninstalled the next day and got the lifesafer. It's the easiest and best one on the market and cheaper where I am I paid 500 for the intoxalock install and uninstall and monitor and only had the device one day. I paid 135 for the lifesafer install and all together for this month monitoring and install was only 250 and 120 a month from now on. And they have me a free month of monitoring!! It's the best. I highly recommend lifesafer. 👍

Do they set a camera or sensor for this? I’m with Dreager and I’m tired of the procedure it takes. Also what’s the cost and is it monthly appointment?
@StealthyWolfDaddyWerewolf Жыл бұрын
It is a camera on the windshield for the camera, not sure the pricing but you can call lifesaver and ask their pricing. It is monthly calibrations and all you have to do is have a good battery, use or run your vehicle to maintain the charge as needed and keep up with the appointments. I bought a super start platinum with 800 cca for my car so I didn't have to worry about battery issues. My friend bought the same battery and his land Rover lasted almost a month before a dead battery and not using it. Every vehicle is different, so a volt meter for the cigar lighter or something helps if you need it. The other companies will cost you more in the long run because of issues with devices and other things. Sorry it took forever to answer your questions. Hopefully you can get it switched and have some relief with the whole thing. I did all my research before choosing lifesaver and I had absolutely no issues with the device or process. Only thing is making sure the installer is a good place and trustworthy with you knowing the exact price to install, remove and calibrations. That way nobody can overcharge or cause problems on the shop side. My friend also applied for low income financial assistance through the state DMV and they helped with the costs for calibration, install and remove. I also have other videos in my lifesafer playlist for tips and tricks on this device and what helps make everything a little easier like a no slip pad for the dashboard and heads up display film for mirroring the device screen so you can see it say when to test.

Yes, intoxolock is like the windows 95 of breathalyzers, smart start wants to collect your soul each test with all your air and LIFESAFER is the franchise of a good device with some shops that are either honest or try to take advantage of you. That being said you need to know all the procedures, rules, and things like notify them if your car is in the shop and what you will pay if you have financial assistance with paying your interlock fees, install, removal .etc. That beings said, I did my research on all 3 by asking others, seeing the devices, and how they work. This device / model is the only one I approve of as far as no issues or problems. I had the model before this one and it was more problematic with false readings.

Only reason I went with lifesaver was because friends of mine had different ones and lifesaver was the one I noticed to be more reliable. Sometimes you can get a bad device and have to have it changed out. But once I got everything figured out it worked great for me. Main ones were the blow and hum, no cold drinks while driving, and no applying cologne, glass cleaner, areosol, hand sanitizer.etc with the windows up. Also don't burp a rockstar energy drink into it. It would give me little warnings that were not enough to give me a violation or whatever. But I never got any warnings I had to pay for either. I did everything clean and sober so it is very simple if your not running around drinking and trying to get it out of your system.

You think my bimmer would be safe with this device ? I haven’t been able to find any threads and I’m a mechanic myself so I’m scared of wiring messing up my DME or ignition or something
@StealthyWolfDaddyWerewolf Жыл бұрын
I had a friend with the older version of this device in her 2004 Volkswagen and it had no issues. You want this installed in a vehicle that can stay running with no charging or mechanical issues. If you bring it to them running and working, they have to install it and get the car running and out of there. I also know of other people buying another car to put this device in so they do not have the hassle of it causing issues. I put this in my 06 town car with a high CCA like 750 800 O'Reilly super start platinum battery and then made sure I had a good alternator. I currently have the interceptor alternator, but my old alternator had a intermittent rev the engine to make this device and the charging system kick in or it would think the car was off and ask for a retest. I never had any issues with the device, but the harness was spliced into the power and - cut at ignition line to feed the starter signal once the interlock took a blow and completed. The worst thing you could have with this device is a bad battery and alternator combo, along with a vehicle that breaks down or has a engine issue or failure. The other thing is when you turn to on and accidentally try to start, your vehicles computer is going to pop up a code depending on how it was designed saying a signal is missing and then the car will complete it's restart once it is a complete connection with the interlock. I would say I would never put this in a dodge, Chrysler or Mercedes due to fear of a accidental try to start when it activates at key on and then the computer system popping a code or abnormal voltage when it turns on and lets you start the car. I have the same fears of stuff with my own car, so I just dedicated my town car to my only car I drive and pay the gas mileage as knowing it's not going to break down or have something that becomes a nightmare to fix or buy the parts to fix. You can call and ask them if they have knowledge of your vehicles year make and model being simple for them to install it in and if they have a special shop that can do it. But you always roll the dice with this dilemma of keeping your license with the state by having your interlock and strategically and successfully finish the requirements. Your going to be watching over your car for a dead battery, and it will become a task to keep it running and sending a small but considerate amount of power to the device so it doesn't loose communication and cause a failed - required by court rules like no dead battery, no failed tests, no tampering .etc to redo the time over on your interlock requirements. I always considered it as turn the key on and if you are just rolling up the windows turn the key off and press the x button on this device and make sure it powers down. And if you turn the key on and are clean and sober with no worries, aerosol in the air, hand sanitizer dried up and windows down if you sanitize hands or have aerosol, along with never burp a cold carbonated drink into it accidentally like a rockstar and no cold or iced drinks because it is going to make you thaw out your mouth and keep retesting till it knows your breath temp is human again. You just turn it on, blow and start. If it does not start turn the key off, push the x button after completing the test and the interlock saying start. So you confirm a completed blow and test but the car failed to start and you had to turn it off. The thing is always logging you, so I always stayed face up in the camera, did a key off engine off then restart if I were to change drivers in the car so it proves there was no seat swapping and the interlock knows drivers changed. You also take into consideration if they say it can be installed in your car with no major issues then it's going to be proving their device did something if it did and no blame on battery or charging system because you have your new battery receipt and charging / battery system test with a time and date to prove it. Might even be able to have the shop installing it and the company to make sure to test your battery and charging system to "make sure" it's going to be able to handle it. Other than all of the above here, you can get a 05 and up panther platform Ford, or go with a different car that can handle it and then be sold or whatever when your done with everything. If you want to roll the dice for research do the charging system test to have proof it all works and get it installed so if it does work you can make your own videos like I did or put it out there about your experience with this device to help others get through it if they have a concern like you do. I myself don't like the new cars and technology, but they are all different and everyone else has their own choices. The thing you have to know is every car is supposed to be able to have accessories and stuff like this even for a alarm system. So as long as it's not like the Dodge family of cars that blow ecus or circuit board fuse boxes with accessories tied into low output circuits or things that will change the voltage and possibly blow something like that up. It should hold up to the ignition circuit being controlled either on or off when you use the device.

I just got this device installed on my car a couple days ago and now it doesn't turn on. The device just stays on a black screen. I called the shop that installed it and he said the battery is probably dead. I went to a Autozone and got my battery checked and sure enough it was a bad battery. I paid and replaced the battery on my car but the same problem occurs. it just stays on a black screen. I've been having to walk 4 miles to and from work, this is so stressful I just want to cry. Crying won't get you anywhere... I've called the service center and they keep me on hold for an hour until they force me to a voice mail box. I left a detailed message on what the situation is and they haven't returned my calls. After today it will be my forth day walking to work and and asking for rides for errands and DUI classes. PLEASE HELP!!! this is so stressful :(

Call or go to the shop and tell them firmly you want the unit replaced with another one that works properly or you want it removed and you are going to go to a different company. I also suggest a better battery from O'Reilly. Mine is one you can not remove the caps to add anything too. I also went with something that has more cold cranking amps so it would last longer. I also recommend getting AAA roadside assistance for towing Incase you need it. Face to face interaction with the shop that installed it is the best thing to do since they put the device in. I also suggest if the shop does not figure out how to fix it. Schedule a appointment with a different shop to have it repaired. The key on function in the run position should make the device turn on and activate. If it does not activate, then the installer might have tapped into the on wire with a connector not making full contact. Be sure to keep the receipt for the new battery. So they understand that you made the steps to figure it out. It's also good to get a alternator test at the same time so they know your electrical system is all together. If the car has enough power to start at 12 to 13 volts and you have attempted to jump the battery to get it all to work. It needs to be reexamined by that shop or a different shop that is willing to check the install. If the shop did a poor job on the wiring and another shop fixes it because they were ignorant. Be sure to go on Google maps and give them 1 star feedback along with your experience if they are not helping you. Your call to lifesaver will be to make a appointment and you will have to call on the weekday and just put your phone on speaker phone and wait while you do your daily activities if you need to. You just want to tell them the device is not operating with the key on and you need them to examine the device and the install or you want it removed and you are going to a different company. Once the car is there they have to fix it and also be sure to ask how they fixed it. If it was a wire you should be okay, if it didn't need anything done and it turned on. Tell them you want a new device. Be sure to examine the device so you can visually know from a scratch or dust or whatever is on the device so you know if they changed it. If you don't trust that lifesafer shop just take it to a different one and read their reviews on Google maps to make sure they are somewhat reputable. Once you get it fixed it should keep working.

One thing to know is each install shop is different than the other. So if one shop did something wrong you can explain that to the lifesafer company over the phone and request to go to a different shop so you can get everything sorted out. You can also get a faulty device sometimes. So if you get the "blow and make the v tone" procedure down and have any issues with it as far as not being able to complete a test. When you know how it works and you have become comfortable with it. Then you should call the number, tell them the device is faulty because it is not working properly and you want the device changed out to another one. You can also tell them if someone installed your steering wheel shell wrong, that your car was not put back together correctly by that shop and you need it put together correctly by a different shop that knows what they are doing. I never had any issues with this device, but the older model I had issues with it lighting up different errors and doing weird things where I needed a replacement device. I also have a LIFESAFER playlist of videos that might help for getting used to it and making it easier to deal with. Another thing you need to make sure of is that your battery is less than 3 years old and your alternator / charging system is in good shape. I suggest if you don't know the condition of the two. Is to go to a parts store like O'Reilly and have both tested. Battery test is with the car off, alternator test is with the car on and running. Alternator should be around 13 to 14 volts running. Also be sure to acquire printed test results so you have that with a date Incase you ever need it. When I had my device installed I purchased a upgraded battery and later installed a upgraded alternator for my vehicle because I feared anything causing more issues than I already went through being a "habitual traffic offender" , lost my license for 5 years and had this interlock obligation after years of trying to get my license back. Also know if your car is being repaired you have to call lifesaver and let them know it is being repaired so you don't have any issues with a mechanic possibly failing a test or getting locked out. I know some people that have bought a car specifically for this device and then had another for licensed drivers. But just like I tell everyone else, LIFESAFER is the most headache free company as far as being able to use the device without any weird blow procedures and hastles like the other devices. I have seen smart start and intoxolock and they are very difficult to use. Also know cold drinks and iced drinks especially blended are a big not a good idea while driving because they can make your mouth temperature off for the device and then you might encounter a cold breath retest several times. I learned that while trying to park after a blended Starbucks and having to retest for 3 minutes in the parking lot before I could leave my car. I also had to make sure to roll my windows down if I used hand sanitizer, or cleaned my windows with the spray cleaner because it gave me a couple warnings. I also even got a "warning" accidentally burping a cold rockstar into the device, but never got any violations. So, hang in there and take your time with the device and it will become more fluent to you after a while. Also know you can go to the install shop if you make a appointment over the phone with lifesafer and arrange to "have them help you" with testing and using the device. That way you can try the fast test as shown here, try the cancel button when you turn the key on and then off. Along with making sure if the device is operating properly over several blow tests. Then if it is working with you when you test it with them. You will know if the device is having some weird glitch and you need to have it replaced with a different one. Also be sure to get extra blow tips and change them out if they have moisture dots or moisture that stays inside it after several tests. The breath water can get in the device from anyone not watching for the moisture dots and then it can cause issues. I usually kept a few in my ash tray just to be sure there was no chance of issues. Hopefully my advice helps a little bit and you can get it figured out. I hated going through it myself, but I got through it and it just gives me one of many reasons to just stay sober.

Alternator needs to charge at 14 13 volts and battery has to be like new. I bought the top of the line O'Reilly battery for mine and had no issues. Sometimes you can get a defective device and have to get it replaced. This topic has been discussed in other comments on how to request a new device. Intoxalock and smart start are horrible and this is one of the best government approved devices. My LIFESAFER playlist might have some useful videos to help you get used to the device. I do not represent LIFESAFER, but I successfully finished my obligations and got it removed a while back. Yes it is annoying, but not driving and or going to jail for not following the obligation is a lot worse. I hope you can get it resolved. The Norco charger is good for trickle charge and sometimes you can have a bad alternator or defective battery combo. But I can not physically inspect your vehicle, so if you have 14 volts running and 12 11 volts off you might have to insist on them changing your blow device because it could be defective. It happens, and you have to tell them that it's been tested battery and charging system with the write up on paper for battery and charge system test to say no it's not the battery the device is defective. Along with insisting on the fact it is not working and you can not operate it as it is supposed to be.

I understand it's stressful but your going to have to be confident and I can tell you that if your device looks like this you will be okay and you can get used to it. If it has a abort try again you try again and just keep calm. NO COLD DRINKS or you will be retesting and having to heat your air and retest until it's happy. I had to cold drink retest over 10 times one time for a iced coffee. Anything like hand sanitizer you open your windows and let everything air out. And don't ever burp and blow, if you burp blow it out and breathe a few times then test. Let me know how it goes and if you get it down. Just blow with pressure from your cheeks and lungs and hum with a vuh
