I FINALLY landed my flip jump back on Monday, after struggling with jump for over a year! I seriously kept two footed it, and I was actually feeling like I wasn’t “teach-able” with it. However, now, I have felt a huge relief! Even the last two times I skated this week, I landed the jump multiple times. I know the jump needs a lot refinement, but I am so happy about it in the meantime!

As a parent of a figure skater - thanks! The jump videos help me understand what elements are in each jump, the difference between jumps, and that learning them is HARD. Now I see the problems the coach is telling me about.

Hi, I am learning to jump on my own at the age of 58. Last time I wore the boots were 30 years ago. Even at that time I was only done baskic skill 8 as a hobby sports. I am so glad that I came across your videos. You are proably the best teacher I have ever had. Your point by point demonstration and explanation is so precise and to the point, so I dare want to try myself. Your teaching method was extremely efficient. Thank you very much and I will learn from you everything as much as I can. You gave me so much confidence. Excellent teacher!!!!

I learned so much on youtube this year. I skated from age 10 for 9 years but the first 5 years we had no trainer at our rink so the bigger kids taught the younger ones (very badly of course) and now after pausing for seven years i finally got that scratch back spin and loop jump done after just watching some slow motion videos T_T it's really a shame we had no way of looking up all these things in the early 2000s. But at least I'm having major fun and progress now!

you'll need to get a new pair of boots, it can be very dangerous skating with boots that haven't been worn in 30 years.

Thanks for these videos, they really help to reinforce what my coach is teaching me, it's really helpful to be able to pause and rewind as sometimes when the coach does something it's really fast and I get confused. My loop still isn't great and I'm finding the flip impossible at the moment. I always end up putting my other foot down as a cheat to support myself. Will keep practising!

I've got a good salchow and a good loop, but I've been stuck on this jump for the better part of a year. My coaches say it's a problem with timing. I can't seem to get the snap up with the free leg, so I'm not rotating fast enough to get all of the way around. Very frustrating! Any suggestions?

Elizabeth Ozorak Try and pivot a little on the toe before leaving the ice, very similar to the loop but without the blade making an edge.

Hi, so is the main tip for getting the rotation on the flip to "twist on the toe pick" as you mentioned in your video? I'm wondering how much being on the back inside edge is supposed to contribute to the rotation itself, or is that just part of the jump aesthetic/definition? (your videos are awesome btw!)

In today's rules of skating they seem to be very fussy about the flip being on an inside all the way through the take off so that it's not a "lip". I was wondering if the left skate leaves a check or flag is that okay on a flip? It seems it would be as long as an inside is held, but I wasn't exactly sure.

Hi, John, Thanks for sharing your videos! I have a question concerning Flip and Toe Loop: Do you actually jump from the toe, which means you bend your knee and spring from the toe, or do you use the power to spring from the inside edge of the left foot (flip) or outside edge pf the right foot (toeloop). In shorter words: where do you get the power from and where do you get rotation from? Looking forward to read from you, cheers!
@xxXThinIceXxx
@xxXThinIceXxx 7 жыл бұрын
+The AbstractName it's mainly from you toe but you do use your edge to assist with the jump.

@princesitaboludita
@princesitaboludita 7 жыл бұрын
Penny Puppy for the toe loop you use the left toe pick and for the flip the right one. the toe loop is much easier and you get less points for it. the toe loop is good to jump in combination cause you can jump it out of the landing position.

Minami Kenjirou it doesn't matter to me who fell already. I follow skating already and I know lots of people fall during their programs- but they're able to get back up again. While I was skating once, I tripped on my toe pick while doing really fast crossovers and I fell and landed on my back. I couldn't get up because my back was in so much pain and I had to have people help me up and untie my skates. After a lot of pills and sleep it got better but it's been 4 months and my back still hurts.
