Emily Ash 14 (STUDENT) plenty of adults and older learners do get up to a lutz and even axels and doubles. There are many many factors at play. Depends on the physique, training and commitment.

hanfan26 , how old are you? I’m old to be starting skating. I’m 11, I started when I was nine but then I quit. I’m very dedicated and my coach said she loves me. I’ve been skating. For quite awhile, but I joined an academy that I’ve been in for 4 1/2 months. My coach is working on teaching me a toe loop, loop, flip, and Lutz at the moment. I hope you have a good skating career

You aren’t too old to learn! I started learning at 30, and many have started learning at even an older age, and are taking skating tests, competing, performing, and all that stuff. :)

I've been trying some different Lutz set ups, and it turned out the cross pull to an inner- outer change of edge seemed to work best for me. The rhythm sets me up really well and I'm now able to maintain speed after the jump. Also the markings are the ice are showing a tighter take off with a good follow through. I wasn't getting that with the long set up.

I used to roller figure skate and the Lutz certainly has a different feel on ice and it should actually be easier on ice, but it seems really difficult to keep up the speed and flow on the landing (not so bad on the flip). When I do this jump on ice I come down and I'm practically dead in the water. I'm might be toeing a little hard and not following through enough, but do you have any suggestions for keeping up speed through the Lutz jump.

Lutz details in video are invaluable, thank you for your expertise and instruction. One suggestion, after conclusion of video instruction, don’t stop video at “ wa-la”, that Is a lutz comment...kindly demonstrate the final lutz again in regular speed. Consider adding a final slow-mo of lutz too. In the current tutorial, you have restart the video clip to see the lutz in action. Ending and starting video with the jump demo will be helpful. Appreciate your efforts and enjoy following you!

I'm 52. I used to be a very good skater. How do you get back into the routine. Hadn't ice skated in 10 years. I used to do basic jumps and toe loops, single axel, lutz. Right now many ice rinks are closed to covid.
@xxXThinIceXxx

just start off slow and build you confidence up being back on the ice once the rinks reopen. you can also use the barrier to help build up the basics of the jump.

@@xxXThinIceXxx thank you. I trained as a teen back on the 1980s by myself. I would watch figure skating on tv and memorize how-to do certain moves such as axels, jumps, toe loops, salchows, Lutz. I did not have a coach. I trained on a pond near a farm and it kept me going for years. I'll be glad to get on the ice rink again. Your body has to re adapt. It will be worth the try. I perform.mental skating in my mind. I also did gymnastics too and speed skating. I only attends one class of gymnastics but that was enough to help.

To all the Yuri on Ice fans who swarm to very figure skating related video on KZbin: just stop not everything is about that stupid anime. Learn because you like the sport not because you want to imitate Viktor or some other stupid character. And other thing, stop comparing real skaters to your dumb anime.

Its the people in the fanbase that make it look bad, of course most of the fandom understands that it's not really polite to compare irl people to anime characters. Just some people from the fandom are kinda,,, immature? It doesn't necessarily mean YOI is a bad thing, as I said. Just some fans are really.. well I guess you know
