@:3 I'm not an ice skater, but a roller skater, I do figure skating on roller skates as well as artistic skating. They are pretty different, figure skating on roller skating doesn't have the meaning as it does on ice skates. Figure skating on roller skates is following a circle line neatly, artistic skating is what this is video is, figure skating on ice but on roller skates.

So I just binge watched all of your skating tutorials, and I just wanted to say thank you!! You've covered so many things I've been wanting to learn but had no idea where to start! I haven't heard anyone else talk about tightening your upper back, which has been suuuper helpful for me since my torso just wants to learn forward every time I bend my knees lol... But anyway, I can't wait to see more, and you have me excited to go out and practice!

Laura Mills that is so nice to hear, thank you so much! The upper back is so helpful, and takes strain off of the lower back too (that’s helped me a lot). Yesss, Practice, and let me know how it goes! I’m so excited to be able to help you!

Hi Nicole, thank you for this tutorial! I'm a figure skater on ice and I tried doing this in my Moxi Lolly roller skates (they have big gummy outdoor wheels). But I can't do it! No matter how hard I try and how much I loosen the trucks, I can't skate in a tight enough radius to do a spin. I also can't do a Salchow in them because I can't pivot on a tight enough radius. For both spins and Salchows it's like my wheels get stuck. Why can't I do it? Is it my wheels? Or do I need special trucks? I've been trying to figure out for a while what is the problem. I would really appreciate your input! Thank you for all of your tutorials!!
@ThatNicoleFiore4 жыл бұрын
Natalia Shershakova hi! I’m sorry you’re struggling with that. It is most likely your wheels. Your trucks should be loose enough for you to maintain the edge, but not too loose. The wheels are most likely too grippy for you.
@abseg123 Жыл бұрын
Could be that your wheels are too soft that they grip to the floor maybe you need harder wheels. Coz gummy ones sort of get stuck and don't slide as much.

Is roller blading or roller skating better for learning to ice skate? I don’t have many chances to go to the ice rink so I’d like to learn as much as I can at home and then transfer it to the rink. I’m specifically interested in learning tricks like you teach in this video.

I've been figure skating for over a year now and I've considered giving roller skates a try. However I don't think my coach would like that because the two are very different but I thought this was a super interesting video! Would I be able to use my old boots (I've gone through 3 pairs already lol Jackson mystiques and Artistes now Im using Debuts) for roller skating???
@ThatNicoleFiore4 жыл бұрын
Tiny Turtle Tim I would love to see how you could translate. The two are quite similar, so i would hope your coach wouldn’t be too upset. You could absolutely use your old boots!

That Nicole Fiore Really!? I’ve always heard they were super different. I’ll definitely have to talk to this local skate shop then. They work with everything from skateboards to ice skates so I’ll ask them if they can hook me up with some wheels and I’ll give it a shot after this quarantine is over haha. Thank you! Because I’m pretty serious about figure skating so learning a different way to skate would be pretty fun.

Sorry for the long comments lol..

Can you tell me what hardness wheels you are using for this? I have 98a and not sure if it’s too soft
@ThatNicoleFiore9 ай бұрын
I think I'm on Roll Line 92s here. Those are my favorite!! You should be good for most surfaces with a 98. It's usually a little too slippery for my liking.

Does anyone know if this is possible on inline skates? I started rollerskating only two months ago, but I really got into it. I can't find many tutorials on spinning with inline skates, and I can't find any that show how to spin on one foot using inline skates. So I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find something like that or if that's even possible to begin with.

Hello there! I'm here to help! Okay, so skates are very important. I learned to skate on very bad skates, so don't worry. Dance Skates: Dance skates are great if you love to dance and jump and *spin*! They have a heel to help with jumps and balance, and they have a stiffer boot. Good choices are the Moxi Beach Bunny, the Suregrip Fame, and Edea boots ( Edeas usually don't come mounted on the actual skate part of a roller skate). Oh and those are in order of general level, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Roller Derby or Recreational: So roller derby skates have a low top, and big toe stops. They are for roller derby of course. Good brands are Ridell ( sorry I don't know any others) Recreational skates can be pretty expensive, but they are usually Moxi brand or custom Vans or Converse skates.
