Jessi, you are a Goddess of the Art Of Hair... You are an Artist of Beauty and Hair on a level I've not seen matched, so far, across the world... You have a flowing eye for symmetry and contrast and tones I can't quite match words to the level of artistry you've mastered : your ability to critically assess a client's face& Bone structure; skin tone(s); hair quality, strength,etc; and most importantly, the client's wish (or dream, desire) for their hair- You are obviously gifted at the incredible gift of drawing out, with exceptional skill, the almost "hidden" beauty in each Client- I really could go on... I've Loved your videos and tutorials going on about 2 years :) Thank you for allways bringing a smile to my face to watch the final masterpiece emerge at the end of each video- And for giving me the courage to not give up on feeling beautiful - You've been on my wish list to come to Utah for a "Spa-cation" Hair Salon Treat(ment) :D and treat my 50 year old self to hair as glorious as I feel (for having survived 50 yrs ;) I'm proud of you for following your passion- it's obvious you are very good at what you do; and it's a joy to see those who pursue(as a career/job) what they love to do, most of all... Simply put, you're a genius with hair, And it's a joy to watch an artist like you, work with each new "canvas" :) Thank you!

Also, I would have brought her completely platinum, no weave, straight back to back slices, made it super platinum white roots to end, then go in with Guy Tangs Smokey level 5 silver smoke demi (it will cover yet leave a Smokey shadow root feel that’s not too dense, but has a Smokey translucent black smoke feel of depth) and silver smoke color for her ends. Same effect, more on the fantasy color side, and All Demi so it’s easy to remove later.
@BlackThorndRose

The HAIR Lounge by Ashli K, LLC Ashli Not sure which silver smoke you’re referring to, because the darkest level in the Demi Silver Smoke is only a 6, but he also the Dark Shadows color which he says to be about a level 5 but it’s not as pigmented. While I absolutely adore Guy Tang’s midentity line, I’ve tried both (as you mentioned) applying it over pre-lightened hair, and I’ve found the effect doesn’t last very long, it fades pretty quick. Which if you have a dark base to begin with, there will obviously still be a line of demarcation when it grows out and I think that’s something she was trying to avoid in doing this color. I think this hair color she did is meant to last a few months and have that lived in look.

Kudos for sharing your process. I believe vulnerability is your greatest strength creating greatness! You asked for feed back I hope its ok I share constructive feed back. I would personally always air on the side of protecting the hair so I would never overlap old lightened hair multi times. It seems your process has a lot of over processing of the hair. You mentioned your goal being blended/ balanced with an edge from contrast. Based on video footage it looks as though it could have been better achieved with a different method. I do see blotchy color and banding. The method used seems to double back a lot doing extra work, wasting product and over lightening hair which causes damage. It may be easier to control things doing it differently. ---Highlight hair then apply root color desired, comb down to desired blend, tone root if needed (probably wont need because its so dark) tone ends if you want a few pieces to pop, pull them out before roots or toning. There is almost never a time to double over process lightened hair for more than 5 mins. after root color you could comb lightener with 10 volume to bump up remove any yellow but nothing more. As for toner there is a mix of 9t 9v 9p that achieved a bright amazing silver gray if that's what you wanted...I prefer bright colors so I lean more into 9p but its a preference. I hope you don't mind feed back.... Thank you for the video !

Is your process step by step? If so, it sounds pretty much the same as what she did, aside from toner selection, and the comment you made about putting bleach on processed hair for more than 5 mins. Can you explain your process again? Do you highlight, tone a few pieces for the pop you were talking about, rinse, and then do your base color, or do you do highlights and base color at the same time, like she did? Just want more clarity so I can see the visual better.

Hmmmm....Three minute toner with shades equals three shampoos, that's what I think.... It's a demi meant to stay on for up to twenty minutes, and lasts up to twenty-four shampoos. See the correlation??? So, three minute tone equals to three to four shampoos at best. What I would do to go to for silver... I use kadus because it's cheap-ish, and with the boosters I can get pretty much any color combination out of it that I want. So, my silver, and I HIGHLY suggest this to any hairstylists(on pre-lightened level 9-10 hair), Kadus Demi-perm, 15grams 8pa, 10grams 10v, 4grams clear, and 1gram PP booster, with 60 grams 13vol, mixed together with 10 grams Kadus after color treatment. And process the full 20 minutes on damp but not wet hair. Honestly the best brightest and shinniest silver color I've ever played around with. It's literally money in the pocket. But if the clients wants a darker silver, like a truer silver, 24grams 8pa, 5grams clear, 1 gram PP booster and just a finger tips(pea sized amount) worth of VP booster, also with 60 grams 13 vol and 10grams after color treatment mix. Because I can process this at a true to tone level, I can process longer so the color grabs more into the cuticle and lasts!!!

@secretxxstars
@secretxxstars 3 жыл бұрын
at around 3:30 she explains she puts olaplex2 all over the ends to create a barrier for the color, also with the 1b/9t formula (I think that was the last root formula, might've heard it wrong) I think she basically explained that since it only was on the hair for like 3-5 minutes that it mostly just "catches" the tone and not the depth? that's what I understood anyway lol I might be wrong on that piece. she starts explaining that whole part around 9:42 if that helps :)
@slrcouture
@slrcouture 3 жыл бұрын
From the hundreds of videos and comments I’ve seen, you can put a barrier on the ends before rinsing the dark root. You can use conditioner, keratin treatment or olaplex. ONLY 🚿 rinse with cold water. Do not use warm or hot water. Try to keep the blonde ends out off the way when rinsing the dark but with the cold water it should stop it from depositing on the blonde. Also when doing your smudge, make sure you’re not using a lot of product. When you’re combing to blend there shouldn’t be a lot of product on the comb. Hope this helps. These tips are what I’ve received from videos of excellent hairstylist who responded to my questions.

This is beautiful!! Besides using a conditioner to prevent transferring what other tips do you have? I just had a client who wanted her roots dark and I used a perm color and it transferred to her blonde ends. The end result was dark roots and grey ends. She loved it, but it wasn’t purposely done. How else would you keep from transferring?
@Colourfulcreation17
@Colourfulcreation17 5 жыл бұрын
Heavy thick conditioner or even a masque if you're really worried about transfer and spotting. If it turned the ends grey then you need to make sure to wash with cold water at a high pressure. Get that dark off as quickly as possible without opening the cuticle on the ends with hot water. And I prefer to rinse as much out before I start rubbing it.

Apply the end toner first all over after shampooing lightener out, no conditioner. Let process.. rinse out with water only. Put a deep conditioner on the ends, then apply the root color. Blend. Let process. Shampoo out. Then lightly condition. Takes more time, but if you put a conditioner on prior to toning the ends, the cutical will be sealed, & the toner won't penerate as deep or last as long.

Jessie, I have question please. I went prematurely grey starting around 18, the grey is fairly blended in the back, but really white right in the front, makes it do hard to dye it, because it grows so fast, therefore it can make it look tacky just in a few weeks, now im in my 50, and really want to do something, i think a good highlight job could help a lot. As at 55 tge grey just starts to make me look older, im really wanting to add some lavendrr to it, fo you think that would be a bad move? And I should just stick with the highlights. I have just always thought highlights grow out so much more graceful then a dye job.

What is the ratio of shades eq 3n 6n 6t ? Is it all equal parts? With 20 volume?

I’m curious would a 3n 5n toner combo just make a 4n? New stylist here so trying to learn. Thanks!

Equal parts, in theory, yes, but if she used a different ratio, she's creating her own custom shade. Mixing creates more of a custom color that might look prettier or more to your liking.

Great video! I would have done it the same way. Makes sense to me. What is the ratio of 1B to 9T? Was it 39 grams of 9T to 1 gram 1B??

How was the grow out on this and lightening it because of the permanent hair dye?

I have a question! How come you used a permanent on the in between root pieces you didn’t foil but used a demi on the root ones in the foil? I’m a student so i’m curious and trying to learn!

Adriana Raskin hey the reason she used permanent was she wanted the depth that perm will give (tho I personally thinks its achievable with demi) and then used demi on the rest to make sure the rest of the roots blended in with the rooted look the client was going for.. Also I think it was wise for her to use demi bc she said this client likes to change her look very often and removing that perm color might be a pain so at least it isn't to much permanent color! I think she does awesome work but I may hv done it a little different, but I don't know anything about the integrity of her hair...hope this helps and goid luck with school

I did that because i wanted more of a contrast throughout with the permanent and then i used the demi to blend the root out & make it more subtle!
