My main concern is that in traffic you can't always look at where you want to go, because you have to keep track of other vehicles that could not let you finish the turn

This is on Australian roads so we drive on the left side

It's the correct side. Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malta, Cyprus, India, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Jamaica, South Africa, Thailand, and many more all drive on the left, not the "wrong" side of the road.
