Those reminder stickers can peel off sometimes in very hot or very cold tempertures. I use the trip odometer,reset to zero after every oil change and you don't have to worry about keeping track of the last oil change.
@sparklysparks776 жыл бұрын
I agree. However, for me it is more useful to use trip meters (if you have A and B for example) and use the secondary one for oil changes, as the primary one can get inadvertedly reset with normal use. Cheers.

What does it mean when car says oil change required? Typically, when you start off your engine, the oil service oil should come on for about two seconds then it stops. If this light stays on, it will mean your vehicle needs oil or filter change. ... When the oil life is low or near to 0%, the messaging system will show you an “oil change due” message.
@williambissell38136 жыл бұрын
Don’t let an auto parts store sell you things more often than you need them. The 3,000 mile oil change is history. Check your owners manual and follow the recommendations found within it for all maintenance, including oil change frequency. Also, Walmart is probably your best choice for fluid price, selection, and availability.

@advanceautoparts11 жыл бұрын
Samantha Jones If you are unable to get the oil drain pan bolt off yourself, we recommend taking the vehicle to a professional. There are many issues that can be present if you cannot take off the bolt. The bolt could be stripped out, or torqued on to the point that you will need professional tools to remove. Hope this helps!

Usually you just gotta push a button located directly on the dashboard, and the percentage of oil is shown. Also, when the oil is low, a light will come on.

I don't save anything by doing it myself cause I've always done it myself. In fact it's costing me more cause the cost of oil and filters has gone up since 1965 when I started changing my own oil.
@jamescasmire11 жыл бұрын
She messed up at 2:49. Your suppose to start the car for at least 20sec and then check the oil level. The reason for doing this is so you can check for leaks and it gives the oil a chance to run through the oil filter and motor

Hmm... the oil should be checked after the engine warms up. Why ? Materials expand when hot and contract when cold. You'd likely see a lower level on the stick when cold and higher level when warm.

Hej, question: is it really necessary to change oil every year? Even If I have driven just like 10.000km=7.000miles? Somebody told me that oil is deteriorating and thats why it has to be changed every year, but I saw the date for usage on the BMW oil at least several years 2 or 3.
@Raj-nh3fc6 жыл бұрын
The BMW has a oil management programme and the car throws a message when oil change is needed and in my E91 it was once after 25000km or every two years, whichever comes first, and which was once every two years for me. They used LL4 (long life) synthetic oil.

hmm. not using torque wrench on the drain plug???
@kubotaman198510 жыл бұрын
Why would you need a torque wrench on the drain plug? You can damage or strip the drain plug by over tightening the plug. You only need the drain plug to be really snug but not over tight because it can very hard to remove next time. I know this because I have done oil changes for other people and I have had some where the plug was very hard to get off because the person before over tightened the drain plug
@badmelatonin10 жыл бұрын
do u even knw what is "torque wrench" ??? funny dat u hv time to comment but fail to found out what is torque wrench all about...
@kubotaman198510 жыл бұрын
Yes I know what a torque wrench is. You do NOT need a torque wrench to tighten the drain plug down. all you need to do is make it snug with a regular wrench. No torque wrench is needed. You can do damage to the plug if you over tighten it. I know this because my brother is a mechanic and I have learned a lot from him and I've never had any problems with my cars
@kubotaman19859 жыл бұрын
It is very easy to over tighten the drain plug

It's if you're a severe driver (67% of Americans). You may not think of yourself as one, but you most likely are. If you drive on highways, drive short trips, or have your car idled often, you are a severe driver. If you want your car running at its best, you should replace oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles (Whichever comes first.)
@lanehogger15326 жыл бұрын
FoNgThOnG in Europe its more like 18,000 miles with fully synthetic
@Raj-nh3fc6 жыл бұрын
You are old fashioned @@howdytherepardner318, you are. This in not 1920s and oil quality and stability of oil inside the engine has changed a lot since then. Have you heard of synthetic oils and long life oils and oil quality check after running these oils for 15000-25000 km in modern cars and have you even bothered to read the recommended oil change interval by the car manufacturers? Probably not! otherwise you would not be saying what you said above. Do you even know who are the severe drivers? If you drive a taxi, pull heavy loads and drive in extreme climates, then you are a severe driver. The 67 % that you mentioned above are normal drivers. The severe drivers are probably 10% or less. You are repeating the same nonsense that the lube companies vomit out on poor ignorant customers trying to steal money from them. God help America! Keep on swallowing that bate and destroying environment and economy with unnecessary frequent oil change.
@dgrz111 жыл бұрын
I change every 3,000 miles. I'm not concerned about the 3 months, oil has no expiration date. If you drive under normal conditions you'll have 3,000 miles at about 3 months.

Over here.. $38 for a regular oil + crappy Fram filter, oil change 6 quarts for a Silverado. I go to walmart buy Mobil1 Synthetic for $25 (or so) for 5quart jug + $8 for a 1 quart then go to Napa for a Napa Gold filter for $10. So at $45 i have all the stuff I need for a synthetic oil change. Get this though: They (Dealerships/Independent Lube Shops) would charge me $80 for a full synthetic oil change (probably still using a crap filter.
