It is a storm like no other storms, our other full-time cruiser friends keep telling us that they have never seen a storm like this before. It's a great time to hunker down and get to work, boat work that is!! Time to plan our next stops, find places to explore, and we are going to show you how we do it! Hopefully this clears up some questions about how we do it on a trawler

Best video you have done yet ! When you were teaching class Van Halen was playing my mind " I GOT IT BAD, SO BAD, I'M HOT FOR TEACHER" Then at around 9 mins. or so you talking about all the cool stuff in Georgetown *and beaches too". I thought you said and Beef stew ? I had to backtrack... They don't eat beef ? ✌️💜🎸

I admire your cruising situation with 3 people on board. It's so nice to be able to divide up work across 3 vs just a couple. You guys definitely gain some extra safety too by being a team of 3. Nice job highlighting some of the complexities of route planning, I know it can take hours to sort out a plan. It's amazing how you can have 6-8 weeks and have to "cut stuff short" because there is not enough time to get to it all. It's a good problem to have. We're in the NW of the U.S. and have similar issues with not having enough time to get to it all.

It really is crazy how much easier it is and how much changes when you have 3 people aboard instead of just a couple. We always talk about how hard it would be to cruise as a couple vs. the three of us. One additional person makes such a difference! Hats off to all of the couples who Captain their boats and to all the single handed boaters! It really is crazy how it can seem like so much time but when you get into the details it’s a rush 😳

Excellent presentation of your route planning, navigation, and anchoring. I think this is the ONLY channel out of at least 30 I follow that sat down and explained intimately how they plan their adventures and how they create a route on the chart plotter. I feel we received a behind-the-scenes of what a real captain goes through versus the polished and seamless navigation so many channels show. Well done babygirl, I am proud of you!

Wow! What a lot of storms. I wish God would Bless Northern California with some of that rain. It’s already May 26, 2021 and we have only had 10 light days of rain Since 1 January we’re heading into fire season and it’s so scary we need the rain so bad. Also I was I kept thinking while watching this video was that the captain must be so pleased with his crew what an amazing team the three of you make and it’s wonderful to watch and to really look and see what kind of work goes into selling a boat and finding an Anchorage. GreatVideo! PeaceAndLove Lori

I really wish it would rain out there too! Wild fires are so sad and devastating. We are from Colorado so we know all about them, thankfully Colorado has been getting tons of rain this spring which has been great especially since we didn’t get a lot of snow this winter. We really have all learned a ton which makes the cruising so much easier since it’s all hands on deck! So glad you enjoyed the video :)

Have you encountered any anchorages where the sand isn't deep enough for the anchor to hold? Wind can be so fatiguing after a while. Great video.
@adventures
@adventures 3 жыл бұрын
We have, the most memorable one was up at jewel island in Maine. It was mud on top of bedrock. We were able to set the anchor but couldn’t back down on it over about 1,000rpm because we would start to drag. We saw that the weather was supposed to be extremely calm so we decided it was okay for a few nights but definitely kept a close eye on the weather. And yes the wind is exhausting!

Love the anchoring info.... what do you think made the anchor "flip and reset"? Does that happen often?
@adventures
@adventures 3 жыл бұрын
It flipped and reset because we had swung over 180 degrees. When we swing that far it’s not uncommon for the anchor to reset and drag slightly as it digs in the new direction. Sometimes it doesn’t drag at all, it just pivots. Depends on the holding. The holding here wasn’t excellent and we actually had to anchor twice because our first anchor drop did it hold. So it makes sense that it drug a little when it turned

@adventures
@adventures 3 жыл бұрын
I am not positive why he opted for the fins over the stabilizers but all of the Nordhavns that I have been on or Nordhavn owners that I have talked to have the fins. I’m pretty sure that is the standard for the nordhavns. I know a lot of the sport fishing boats have the sea keepers, I’m sure it has something to do with speed and fuel consumption as well
