Thank you for this video! I have only had Affinity Photo for about 6 months and have been learning a lot. This video and your prior video on clipping has helped me tremendously with my frustration level with clipping. If need knowledge on how to do a particular function in Affinity, I look through your videos first!

I believe this will be very helpful for what I am trying to do. I am trying to make some 3D printed Bookmarks using a software called Hueforge. The first step is to setup a specific design that is exactly 100x400 pixels that I can export as a png image. Once I have that I can place it into the Hueforge software and use it to make the file that can be printed using my 3D printer. In my case I want a space background and want to put an image over that background - say an angel, then some text and export the whole item as a 100 by 400 pixel png picture. You have something that would help me put those elements together. I hope this makes sense. If so, can you direct me to which of your videos I should watch

Hi @RobSandstromDesigns , thanks for the question! I think in your case, the simplest thing to do would be to just create a file that is 100 by 400 pixels. And then you can export the result as a PNG. If you have the whole Affinity suite, I personally like Affinity Designer for this type of task. The main reason is that allows you to put graphics, text, and vectors off of the canvas. When working with lots of assets, I like to put them off to the side like that. The feature is called "Clip to Canvas" (or "unclip to canvas" as the case may be). You can see what I mean at the beginning of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHyUgGB_bKmnp68 Hope this helps!

I came across your channel to try and learn how to use, Affinity. I’m new to this. Do you have a video or can you make a video on how to do multilayer image stencils for painting, thank you.

Hi YellowJackets, I don't have a video on exactly that topic. But in a recent livestream, I did talk a bit about how to make stencils out of letters. You can find it at 31:07 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/el6Vi2tubryUg68 Hope this helps!

Do you have a simple process to open old adobe (CS2 and CS5.5) indesign files in Affinity design? They are greeting cards I wrote and designed. Please I haven’t been able to access-open them for many years. Computer newer os so my original CS dvd’s are no longer workable on my computer. If several steps please share detailed information for opening and saving within Affinity. Thank you ever so much…

Hi Darlene, sorry, I do not know how to open those files. Probably your best bet would to see if some Adobe program can open them, and then try to re-save them in a modern format.

Hey Trent, is there any way to copy and paste size and location from one layer to another in Photo or Designer? I'm making mockups with a graphic which has dark or light text depending on the t-shirt color. I see I can manually input, but a bit of a pain, especially with a hundred shirts. I know I can drag and drop with Canva, but not a huge fan of Canva and would like to keep local. Thoughts? Excellent video as always by the way. Added to notes. Searching my notes for Trent has become very useful!!

Hi @trafferz, thanks for the question! I'm not sure about how to copy the Transform properties of one object to another. i did some searching and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this, sadly.

First time someone has reasoned and said child layer clip vs child layer shape mask. Everything falls into place. Thanks

If we make a vector mask around the object in the image layer can we use that to clip things the same way and keep the scaliblity of the image layer
@TechnicallyTrent19 күн бұрын
Hi...you can clip images into vectors. However, the image's quality will still depend on the image's size. If you make the vector very big, it's possible the image inside it will look pixelated.
