I'm hooked on your videos. I can't thank you enough. You are a breath of fresh air among all these other etsy "experts" that basically encourage you to do what everyone else is doing. You are the only one I've seen so far that has advised your audience to bring their own products to the marketplace and dominate. It makes perfect sense.

It’s refreshing to see someone who is NOT trying to sell a tool, like Everbee or Erank, that is all I hear on everyone else’s channel. Although those tools aren’t very expensive, it is still money being spent, and I think people would have to factor those in to their total cost to make the product…when they’re seeing how much profit they are making. Thank you. I am not sure if I understand what you are talking about in this video, but I will watch it until I understand it.

I have 3 price levels, looking for a fourth bag at a lower cost, while maintaining quality. Added astrological bags in January (thank you). Keeping my sections evergreen. I follow you Nick from the beginning, well almost from the beginning when I opened my store in October last year. My niche is very personal and for that reason is very difficult to find strong data about what seels and what not. I sell my personal photography so I can't compere my works to anybody else. Since I follow your advice I started to do the research inside the Etsy but this is actually much more deeper and more organise way, and I will definitely do it. What I want to say is that my shop is 4.5 months old, I did sell 2 photos in December and my average monthly traffic is around 180-190 visits, in December over 300. So perhaps this is not certainly the top but I also analyze my statistics and what is significantly growing is my SEO value. At the moment for February it's 67% of my traffic was brought by Etsy itself and this is almost double to compare with 2 months ago for example. This gives me indication that maybe I have still long way to perfect my research and shop strategy but it seems that I go in good direction, and of course your knowledge is a gold for me.

Following your video, I've visited dozens of Etsy shops. 2 things : - I am stunned by the numbers of shops that do sell but haven't set up their shop... forget nicely, make it complete and informative at the bare minimum !!! With all your good advice, I would say it gives us a MAJOR head start ;-) - Looking for French stores, I have a hard time to find that many which sell over 1000 items for my king of items. Should I do my keywords and niche research on the US market (knowing that Etsy will probably post my store over there after translation)... or would you have a lower number for European countries/marketplaces ? Or maybe the keyword I searched is too narrow focused?

Hi Nik.. Great videos - I have learned a great deal many many thanks - I have a quick observation / question.. not sure if this is just me or not, but some stores appear to not share their sales data? i.e. when you go to their shop and click on their sales there is no hyperlink to the sales. Just wonder if this is something you have observed yourself ? it would seem there must be an option on Etsy not to share this data which i guess is to stop other people mining this data.

Hi, yes. It's an option you can enable from within Etsy. Here's how you can do it: 1. Go to Shop Manager > Settings > Options. 2. Hi Vky, thanks for commenting. I'd suggest you go with digital downloads. They are much easier to get into than POD is. Still, please keep in mind that no niche is easy and a lot of work is required. A good plan for growing your store is essential when it comes to success on Etsy. I suggest you watch my video "Your First 3 Months As An ETSY Seller - How To Do It RIGHT": kzbin.info/www/bejne/anjVhaF5h8qoaMU

Hi Nick, thank you for this yet another great tutorial! Quick question, I have a history t-shirt niche and my sub-niches are different periods in history e.g. Roman Empire, Napoleon Bonaparte etc. I recognise these are quite sub-niches (no massive demand here but I believe history lovers can potentially love my designs :-) ) therefore it is very difficult to find strictly history-related accounts and research in this way. Such t-shirts are usually offered by generic stores that sell all type of different themes so it's very difficult to figure out what's happening in my niche. Would you just focus here strictly on the product so what type of history-related t-shirts sell and then try to offer sth different? thank you!
@etsyconsultant
@etsyconsultant 7 ай бұрын
You can do keyword entries to see the overall number of products that are out there (you have to do this on mobile though), type in "history t shirt" and see how many total products there are. You should find a lot of information from there, you can go into the stores and do some digging and see what is working and so on. You can then go from there with your own design decisions.

Thanks for the good info. I've fallen into using those apps so it was great to get a different perspective. My question is what if the shops you are finding sell more products than you wish to do. How can you break out just those products. I am thinking about doing POD adult puzzles and nearly all those shops sell a wide variety of gifts. When I filter for just puzzels - it's typically a small percentage of what they do. (Is that my answer?) 🙂

Hi Nick, I have a question about how to choose the right price for our products. Most of the shops in the digital clipart niche are running constant discounts from 30% to 70%. What price should we look for in that case to form our price, the diсcount one or the original one?

Hi, just after some thoughts 🙂 Im planning on opening a new etsy shop selling digital and printed greeting cards, then maybe some other bits like digital prints ect. Im niching down to animals > cats...what im trying to decide is, should that one store have everything in that niche only? So when I want to move onto another niche, should I open a new etsy store for that niche (Nature/flowers for instance) or should I put them all into one shop and separate via sections? would that then dilute the sub niche? Hope this all makes sense! Thanks for any advice

Hello, Mate. Your knowledge and approach are excellent! The best information I could find. I wanted to thank you for the valuable information and learning I'm getting from you. I am now finishing a more professional product research that I skipped in the beguiling of my journey few months ago. Not only that, but I followed the advice you gave in this video, but I also put together all the products from 20 stores in an Excel sheet with data from a tool. Although the data may not be perfect, it seems to me that it is pretty accurate. Data such as faves, Est. Total sales, monthly, listing age, etc. Estimated data. I can filter the results and have a more in-depth understanding of bestsellers vs. listing age, and find already proven selling products. Do you think this could help, or is all the data far inaccurate, and that all the work I'm doing is for nothing? I will greatly appreciate your view on this. Thank you so much. Cheers!

I did the spreadsheet for 10 shops similar to mine (so far) and the numbers are all over the place for sales vs number of items in the store. I'm looking at digital art for this. The store with the most items does not have even close to the amount of sales the top seller has (even though they are close in number of items). Then we've got stores with very low inventory but crazy high sales. We've got stores with low sales, medium inventory and opened 9 years. Stores with medium inventory, high sales and just opened this year. So, unfortunately I'm not finding the spreadsheet all that helpful. I guess I'll dive deeper and take a look at their top sellers....although I have already done this over the last 4.5 months. It feels like you basically have to win the etsy lottery....and if you don't, you've absolutely wasted months and months of your life. Its only been just over 4 months for me on Etsy and I've got 34 sales....so I'm trying to be patient. Crossing my fingers all this hard work will eventually pay off.
@etsyconsultant

If shops have loads of red "xx have this in their carts", as in most of the shop, this is external traffic being driven to the store. You cannot see Etsy ads unless you find an ad yourself. Offsite ads assume most store will be doing this as they have no choice.

Hi, great question GTM. Overall though, I always advise against Pattern because you are still under Etsy's control, the "website" is never actually yours.

Hi Linda, just try to list "very similar" items back down on to the one that sells. So if you have 10 heart necklaces that only differentiate in the slight color difference in the red heart, that would be 10 in stock, they are all very similar. Or, if you have items that are not very similar, then you have one in stock, sell it, then renew that item with new photos/video/price/seo/description of a similar item. I hope that helps.
