Passed my test today with 4 minors, I wish everyone to pass. Just try to relax while the test and not panic.. and try not to think of any mistakes you did just focus on what is coming. All the best for everyone

I prefer the 45 degree method. I find it to be more practical.
@JamesTravis3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that method is easier to do. But the DVSA ask for the car to be parallel at start.

Hi Travis, in the test do they allow you to put a marker on your window for the reference point? Thanks.
@JamesTravis Жыл бұрын
Putt the marker on door where the window meets the door. Then if they lower the window, the marker is still there. Yes to your question.

So you can be in the middle of the road when you do it. Or do you have to stay in your Lane? I stay in normal driving position but it’s harder to do.

I recorded a few videos aimed at the drivers who passed the driving test. Checkout the playlist on driving test manoeuvres and you will see the 45 degree method. Link in description BAY PARKING REVERSE | BETWEEN TWO CARS

I must admit since I passed 3 years ago I wouldn't do this method doesn't seem practical in the real world. However since it's part of the DVSA test (I assume) it does seem practical. The 45 degree method seems easier and can get it in first under 10 seconds, plus you're not putting wear on the tyres.

Travis , I'm a PDi about go pink pre validation training, if you were I how would you teach Bay Parking? I'm not one for the 2.5 row lock trick but I shouldn't bring in my own preferred method should I?
@Tommy_673 жыл бұрын
Why don't you let your learners decide how they park. They could choose the way that works for them. If you are going to teach a specific method, choose the one you use! Pupil's should be taught the skills needed to manoeuvre the vehicle safely, not taught a recipe they are likely to forget. Reference points are usually used to make life easier for the instructor, not the pupil.
@zzhughesd3 жыл бұрын
@@Tommy_67 Tom, brilliant answer thanks, yes . Did my lesson PDi yesterday !! Didn't know, yes , it's for instructor the reference point, never knew, how long have you been an ADi yourself ? ed to make life easier for the instructor, not the pupil
@JamesTravis3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, the reference point is to make it easier for the students to remember. But you and your student can choose whichever way suits them, as long as it’s safe and covers what is needed to complete the manoeuvre. If you think your student can tackle the manoeuvre. Ask them how they would get it in. But remember they would need to still use observations. You will find that most would go with the way you teach them. It’s only occasionally you will come across someone who doesn’t need references to complete manoeuvre. You will also find that when the student becomes independent with the manoeuvre they will not need the reference point. Hope that makes sense. As with all driving test manoeuvres, the examiner marks it on control and observations.

@@JamesTravis Thanks Travis, that's spot on, pretty much how lesson on bay parking went yesterday, never knew the reference markers were for the instructor benefit as much as learner , thanks

They are not for the instructor, the the learner. Good luck with the training and any questions on any other videos, just post them or if you have a video idea, just let me know.

Do you need to apply your handbrake at any point when observing?

Once in the bay, applying handbrake when stopped. Other times you don’t need to as long as you are under control

@@JamesTravis will defo keep that in mind as reverse bay parking isn’t my strongest point and 9 times out of 10 I never manage to get it between the bay lines on the first attempt, how many chances do you get to correct it before it comes a serious driving fault.

Hey Travis. I have done my test so many times but last week was the first time I was actually confident because I was with my instructor. My fail was when I was reversing backwards. I looked at my blind spot but I didn’t look again during the manoeuvre. I honestly feel like I’ll never pass and I’ve used so much money. Do you have any advice?
@JamesTravis3 жыл бұрын
It's good that you felt confident on your last driving test. Don't feel too down about not passing. Reading your comment, I feel that you are so close to passing. I would write down the driving faults that you thought you had done on the driving test and then check if these match up with the comments off the examiner. Anything that is different would need more practice. I would keep working on the faults and every time you are in the car, think of it as a driving test.

Hi everyone I've moved house and haven't changed me address on my provisional licence. I'm doing my test in my own car will I still be able to do my test. My test is in just over 3 weeks help please I'm worrying that they won't let me do it 😔
@JamesTravis3 жыл бұрын
You can still take your driving test. The examiner will ask you at the start if you still live at the same address. Just say no. If everything goes to plan and you pass, the examiner will ask you to apply for the driving lesson and tell you what to do.
