Hi Alex. Thanks a million for watching. Hope you are able to do some slaying. I heard the red tide is kicking in, so please be careful. Yes, that was a monster Bonito. definitely a solid 20 pounder. It was a beautiful day, a little bumpy, but still nice out. Had to figure out a good fishing method for the day. The seaweed has been relentless this year. So the good trolling days are few and far between.

Hi Heath, Nice Albies !!! I would love to slow pitch jig some day. It just looks like fun. I guess you can slow pitch all year round. Something's going to bite. Hope Avi and the Fishing Girls are having a good summer. Tell everyone I said "Hi." Talk to you on Thursday. Have fun and good luck this week, Mickey

Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. All the kids say "Hi Mickey" and yes they are in full summer mode. Bijoux and Bella are making to stay up all night, taking full advantage of not being in school. I know I did that back in the day, but wow, it makes me tired just thinking about it. Yes, slow pitch works year round, especially when it seems like nothing is around or eating... You can get into the bite. It's one of my favorite styles of fishing... from the strike, to the uncertainty of what you're gonna catch. It never gets old. To bad there aren't enough hours in a day to everything I want to. Thanks again for always being here over the years. I remember when we first started chatting. Thanks, Mickey, sincerely. Hope all is well with you and your family. Talk to you Thursday. Take care :)

Hi Heath, Everyone's good here. Sounds like B & B are enjoying the summer. Since I can't saltwater fish, I enjoy watching you fish. I'm shooting once a week, so that helps fill in the fishing void. Have a good week and I'll talk to you on Thursday, Mickey

Hey there heath. Nice informative video again. You really give a lot of insight on how to on all your FYI video. Really appreciate that. So a question I had not sure if you know for sure. I bought a goofish flat black rod. And I'm looking at a slow pitch reel. It's a left spiral rig as far as the eyes go on the rod. Is it that you match the reel for a left sided Handel to go with the left spiral eyes? Or does it even matter? Thanks Ed Tight lines.....
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. No, the side your handle is on has no effect on which way your wrapping should go. There are a million theories out there... like right handed person should a right spiraled rod, lefty should use a left spiral rod... All of this is BS. The only viable answer I have found throughout the years, is that the left spiral is more of an asset when it comes to retrieving line on a conventional reel due to the fact the reel wants to naturally pull the to the right, thus helping the re-spooling process happen more evenly. You'll see this first hand when you start fishing, because you won't have to guide your line on when reeling in... It's a pretty cool phenomenon, when you drop out several hundred feet of line, get a strike, and your fighting the fish on a conventional and you don't have to worry about guiding the line on evenly. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel, I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing thanks Heath. That's the best knowledgeable answer I've received. I like to reel my conventional reels in on a right handle. Spinners I'm on the left. Go figure..... Thanks Again.

just got my 1st jigging rod now trying to see the reel looking at gomexus 50 or 450 what would you go with out of the two Great video and info👍🏼👍🏼
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Жыл бұрын
Gomexus has nice reels... the 50 is smaller but has a higher gear ratio 7:1.... the 450 has more line capacity with a lower gear ratio 6.3:1. Personally I'd go with the 450... more line & slower gear ratio from the two of these reels... 6.3:1.... which is still screaming fast

Hi Keith ... I'm just getting into some SPJ fishing. Question ... do you loose a load of jigs? Can one use a 12" wire leader to the jig? Love your channel and I hope your son Avi (spelling?) is still bending the rod.
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 11 ай бұрын
Hi, yes sometimes I lose jigs, but that all part of it. I don't recommend wire, you can use it, but it decreases your hook ups big time. And yes Avi still loves fishing.

@@jbl2270 you are binding up one side of the reel because you are not guiding the line on evenly with your thumb... it's called level winding. As you are winding in, use you thumb to guide the line on evenly back and forth across the spool. This should solve your issue Here's a link to a video that shows a little bit of level winding kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJSvkpJshNyCY9E

All in all a great video. One little point tho. I don't understand why you tie on a solid ring and attach your split ring to it. That ring serves no purpose. I learned to either tie on directly to the solid ring of the assist hooks, or tie on a ballbearing swivel and attach that to the split ring. To me, the way you use the solid ring is no different than just tying a loop knot.
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching everyone has a different way to hook the jigs to the lines some use swivels some hook the assist hooks directly to it me I prefer the solid ring which allows me to keep my jigs rigged up and I can seamlessly switch from one to another I don't have to stick with the same hook size depending upon what jig choose to use
