Once that flex washer is all the way flat, that's where most of the drag power comes in, but that's where the brass threads strip out.

Hey Heath, I am a big fan. I live in Pompano Beach and I just purchased an older center console, do you have any videos on how to planer troll using a cleat? I don't really trust my rod holders to stand up to the extra stress of having a planer attached to it, also the only heavy duty reels I have are TLD 25's. A lot of people tell me an alternative is to attach your planer to your stern cleat and then clip your line to the the planer line. I just have no idea what that looks like or how to rig it.

I don't have a video showing that. But yes. Use about 80' of 200 lb test braid. Drop the planer out and make sure it sets... Let your line out about 100'... Loop a rubber band around your line and the loop it around the barrel side of a snap swivel. Use the same side to connect it to your braid... Send the line out that same 80' as the braid... When a fish hits it'll break the rubber band .... Then you reel in... Don't retrieve the planer ... Just leave then swivel down there... And make another setup.

Well all I know is I retired in Florida spent $100,000 on gear and I go out and can't keep any fish

Don't forget about all the fish that are caught and released and actually don't make it. Example: that under sized dolphin that swallowed the hook (because you have to let them eat for a few seconds to catch them) is now bleeding out all over your boat and slamming its head on your deck but it is one inch short and you have to let it go for it swim erratically, bleed out and get eaten by a shark....

I understand... The fwc sees it as energy back into the system... Where we see it as killing a fish for no reason

You as a fisherman know 5% of the recreational fishermen catch 90% of the fish 90% catch nothing or very little so every time you say hundreds of thousands of people a recreational fishing that doesn't mean they're catching

Do away with commercial fishing. Make fish farming the standard. Remove the recreational fishing regulations completely.
