Thank you very much for your work. I don't have hoarding disorder at all. I live more on the minimalist side. But what has kept me by your side for years is your ability to have grace for yourself, despite all your weaknesses and challenges. That is something that fascinates me and that I am learning from you bit by bit. Thank you very much for that! Best wishes for you. Now, from your nightmare, a dream come true, that you are living a life with purpose and what a testimony to our empowering God: that he can make something good out of everything that challenges and almost kills us in life. You are a blessing. Best wishes and never stop believing in our god an what he can do through you!

I remember watching a talk show maybe 25 years ago or so where they had an organizer on and she was using the box method like you describe, but she also had a fifth one that she labeled “emotional withdrawal.” The idea was to work fairly quickly, and if there were things that were causing you to stop because of the emotion attached, you would place them carefully in that box so that you could continue working on the easier decisions and not lose your momentum. I always thought that was such a great idea, and I’ve used it a few times myself. 😊

Oh wowwww, thank you for sharing that with us!!!! An emotional withdraw box!!! I subconsciously do that in every video!! Thank you for bringing this awareness, I will be using this in future videos!!

Sometimes people forget that others work long hours. 'Hubby' does that as Mrs Heart has told us in various past videos. Also, if you can't get to the areas you want to clear out, it's hard to do. I think it is fab that he will have his garage in order very soon with all the progress that they are making. Well done! 👏👏👏

I've been following you for 3 years and I wanted to thank you for making me realize that I too have some amount of hoarding tendencies. It was hidden from me because I was forced to get rid of stuff regularly by having to move every year, but I would feel so much distress and regret over every decision. It really came to a head when I first moved in with my boyfriend and I just could not understand why I was so anxious and depressed all the time. Most of my items were in storage, as I had moved in with him, and we had disagreements about me putting my art up. As soon as we came to an agreement on what art I could put on the walls and I was able to have my own little space in the house that was full of my stuff, I felt so much better. It turns out that I view my items as my home because I've had to move so often and the items come with me when I move. Not being able to be surrounded by them made me feel unsafe. I only realized that after binge watching your channel when I first discovered it. I am happy to say that we moved earlier this year and I was able to get rid of tons of stuff because I've been watching your channel and able to identify the emotions I had attached to my items. I was able to identify the things I had no attachment and would therefore be able to get rid of easily. So, thank you!
@ApDiErАй бұрын
Oh I relate to this very much. At some point I even thought I was unattached to items since I had to let them go so often. But those experiences in fact made me even more insecure and when I finally had a stable home, it hoarded up pretty quick. Especially since I've been so tight on resources and felt the need to hold onto everything that could have a use. Around four years ago I had to store piles of things on the floor, tables, all my cupboards and drawers were difficult to use bcause I had to dig through them, and I had bins in all my closets. That's when I realized. Good job on the progress!

Wow thank you at 8:18 when you talked about " giving permission that mom is not going to be upset" that hit me hard, I have just moved far away from my parents and brought all my stuff up here. I cant just go into the other room and ask my mom if it's okay to give an item away and then wait for her to decide or she puts it into a box to "deal with later" ... im not going to have my garbage and donate boxes looked through and get in trouble. I am now at a place to shed the guilt and anxiety she instilled into me when it comes to my things. Thank you, I have been so stuck and overwhelmed with all my things that was brought to my new house. Thank you

I was literally not allowed to get rid of anytbing as a child, unlike my brothers, and guilted for not liking or wanting things becuase of "how expensive" they were (I am not even a girl yet they would only ever buy me girl clothes amd things. Mynleast favorite colors were always pinl and red and my brothers would get the blue or green things while Ingotbstick with pink or red while my 2 favorite colors are green and blue.). You’ve helped me so much to kerb my strong hoarding tendencies… but since moving in with my partner last Summer, I feel like he can’t tell! You have such a way of explaining things, and it’s helping us to communicate (and he requests to watch your videos, too!!). Can’t wait to let him know the next garage one is ready and waiting ❤ we have similar dynamics to you and hubby… all of our differences are our strengths in a team, and your fab family is a fab team 🎉 💪 congrats on your progress, Miss Heart. I can’t keep up with your unicorn powers and decluttering muscles, but you inspire me to keep at it. @darleneh608Ай бұрын
I was proud to see you grab that shoebox sized clear box to store the lightbulbs. We did that, too. Also had a few sweater-box sized clear boxes that stored random things. One had all plumbing-related things (washers, aerators, plumbing tape, spare mechanical sets for the toilets, etc. Another had cables related to the TVs. Another had all the extra extension cords. They stacked easily on a shelf, and you could easily get to the stuff you needed.

My dad is like this. He saves everything because it could have a purpose. He is 86. So the mindset is different. I don’t get the saving garbage though. I think he thinks oh I’ll just leave it here and pick it up later. 😂 But then later comes and he’s overwhelmed by all the stuff and gives up before he starts.

I personally never thought your husband had hoarding disorder even in old videos because you commented that he encouraged you to get rid of stuff and in the garage I didn't think so because you had said he is not emotional when he declutters and the tossy tossy piles are humongous! The garage had a lot of stuff sure but what that looks like to me anyway is someone who works full time and didn't get around to doing that project yet. I also think that is a very useful segment on your channel to have your husband's non hoarding decluttering journey too because it is going to be different from yours and may resonate with many of your viewers too.

You touched on an issue here (paint, metal) that's caused so much stumbling for me in trying to move forward....something I hope you can delve into even more. Something I'm wondering if others are struggling with extensively as well - disposing of items with specific restrictions...computers/electronics, batteries (ie fire/explosive risk), massive volumes of confidential/financial documents, etc. You're videos have & continue to be what's helped me the most (THANK YOU❤). It's taken me years to feel safe enough to place things in the toss pile... the anxiety of knowing they'd have to be disposed of in very specific ways has made me revert back so many times over the years. The information isn't readily available in our town & contacting people who should know unhelpful. It's clearly posted you can't just dispose of those items - but nothing on how you should. Is everyone else's house in this town jammed up w/ this stuff too because they don't know how to get rid of it either? It's beyond frustrating, defeating more how I'd describe it. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I have been watching your channel for years. I have thought all along that you modeling a different behavior would eventually spark a change in your spouse. I’m a minimalist but my husband has hoarding tendencies. Over the years he’s influenced me to keep more sentimental items and I’ve influenced him to but attach importance to an item because he has attached a memory to it, but it had nothing really to do with the event (a hotel ice bucket that was in a hotel he stayed in is not a souvenir).

I am really enjoying these videos where you and hubby work together on cleaning out the garage. I hope you do other spaces together as well. I really would like to see him go through all the his boxes in the basement because I know you say he's not a hoarder but I don't know anyone who has kept as much stuff from their childhoods as you guys. And aren't there certain characteristics that tell you if you lean in that direction? Like having the garage at this level of clutter doesn't that border on hoarding? Or is it just like a pack rat syndrome or something? Sometimes people don't have trouble getting rid of things but they're not sure how to organize them or they are ADD/ADHD and don't have good systems where they put things back in place. No matter how you slice it, it is very encouraging to watch you guys work together on these spaces.
