I am a frequent seasoned braider and wearer of yarn braids. The one thing you don't want to do is dip them in water. Yarn is acrylic and the braids will become heavy and squeezing them out is a bitch! So, I would recommend that you take your hand and wet it with water and run your hands thru the braids only dampening them. They won't be dripping wet and they will straighten out. Then, take your favorite oil and moisturize the roots and style. Just offering another way to soften your braids.

@@venessatalbert9232 I've been wearing these yarn braids since 2004 which was my 1st deployment of many! Nothing never bad happened and my clients love it as well! Its 2022 and I still dip them and NO MA'AM they don't become heavy at all, very light weight. To each it's own! I'm a braider as well.
