Nautiques back up to the left, most other inborads back up to the right. Props spin in opposite direction! Surprised no one has mentioned this.

Awesome driving.. Just got an inboard wakeboat after 40+ years of driving I/Os and outboards. I cannot get the stern to come in to the dock on the port side at all, and that's the only side my dock allows for access. I feel totally lost in my approach and the boat is completely unresponsive to moving to port. I need some of your magic

So are you saying when we go into reverse on a direct drive it wants to pivot the stern to port???

It depends on your boat but Nautiques drift port

Exactly! Mastercraft and centurions will pivot the stern starboard. No matter how much you crank the wheel, it will always pivot starboard in reverse. Just something you have to learn and plan for with direct drive. Makes our slip hard to get into cause it requires a clockwise turn and our centurion pivots counter clockwise

Does a boat turn in neutral?

The rudder still moves when you are in neutral. If you are moving you will still have turn authority. Since the boat is in neutral the propeller is not moving water over the rudder so you will have less authority compared to the boat being in gear.

Problem accur when it's a 3-up/ton, and up and 30ft with one engine single prop, rudder, and high free boar that take up wind and push the boats aside nomatter bowthuster and tight docking areas.
