it’s really impressive how so many of these “bad” weapons have seen incredible amounts of effectiveness in vsh. Of course there’s the eviction notice but there’s also soldiers with half zatoichis and scouts with the baby-face’s blaster actually contributing to the team in meaningful ways

my favorite scout weapon for this is the force-a-nature because the knockback is really good at keeping hale away from you or your teammates, he can just never catch you if you play it right, especially if you combine it with sandman and bonk

NGL medics in VSH are less of a supportive class but more of a tank class then heavy ever is in this mode. Ubersaw and stock medigun is enough for a medic to juggle the hale around and force them to run away, waste his abilities just to get you away or waste a saxton punch to yeet you across the map. So having a lunchbox item to heal yourself when you got a bit of time to do so is pretty good considering medics are more concerned about the uber train then anything else.

Medic has a Hale resistance so he can tank a lot of hits. Battle medic is pretty viable for once

That and Scouts tend to use Mad Milk so Medic isn't too much of a healer, he can focus more on ubers and damage than straight up heal optimization

I think you might be overlooking the shotguns too quickly. With the KGB crits you can dump all of your ammo before the 5 seconds is up which might end up being more DPS than what the nerfed miniguns might put out. You're a lot less vulnerable with the shotguns too. KGB+shotgun is underrated tbh.

Shotguns are really good in close quarters combat moments like these, esp if you're pairing them with the Holiday Punch or KGB which some players WANT to get close to Hale with. You should be able to dump all 8 shots using the Family Business with your crits btw.

Standard melee fists are also fun to use even still, since they still have the crit-knockback effect, so you can stunlock Saxton Hale. It also does better damage, since the Eviction Notice is reduced. Regular fists trade off the speed boost for more consistent damage, so it's fun to use either way.

3:50 should also be noted that since Saxton will two shot you, the Banana will pretty much always get you to full, so if for some reason there are no medics in saxton hale (surprisingly common) use the banana

Don't forget scouts - they replace medics as your best friend here if they have the FOW and Mad Milk. Because scout has the fan o war and mad milk, he is EXTREMELY handy in VSH, because the mini crits remove the damage falloff, making the heavy's range ideal. If you're planning to do all heavy strats, have 2 - 3 scouts to constantly mark the hale and mad milk him, which will help extremely well with damage and survivability for the heavies.

Also a another important note: Most melees have a faster deploy speed in this gamemode, so using the KGB as a whole is ever so slightly faster to draw out your minigun, which gives some small benefits compared to normal gameplay.

The best spot for Brass Beast is that "elevated just above Saxton Hale" parts that are near the center. You'd be surprised to see how often Saxton ignores you.

Heavy lost to an australium buffed TFC Heavy, which Saxton already has naturally, so he could probably take on Saxton the most out of all the mercs, but i don't think he'll win tho.

Apparently he was able to arm wrestle equally a non prime, but still a very strong Saxton hale. I don’t think he would beat him in a straight fight due to a few of Saxtons advantages, but it would be close, and with just a medic alone, in the lore he likely could beat Saxton.

I had a lot of fun using the evictions notice and warrior spirit with the chocolate bar. Even if ws gives damage vulnerability, the bar compensates for it and the extra crit damage is very intimidating for saxtons.

Saxton Hale is an incarnation of death itself. One player won’t be enough. You will need a full server, as many plans as there are letters in the English alphabet, and everyone to put the “Team” in “Team Fortress 2” from start to finish in order to take him down.

Warrior's Spirit is actually pretty good in VSH. Hale will 2-shot you anyway so damage vulnerability doesn't matter that much, BUT: 1) The extra damage bonus is pretty handy 2) Health on kill (which is health on hit in VSH) can help you recover health after you took damage from the 1st first if you are very good with melee.

absolutely, i average 2000 damage by myself with those gloves, they're really good, and apart from the cheap damage problem (which you can solve by switching away from them when he does a splash attack) it's a fantastic choice for direct combat with saxton, the other being the kgb for combos with shotguns

That would be a pretty cool rework for the Eviction Notice honestly. It gives it an identity separate from the GRU, gives Heavy an actual movement option, and is kind of justified by the spikes. EDIT: I'm interested enough in this idea that I'll actually theorize a way to make it work. Keep the faster swing speed and move speed, keep the health drain the same but ditch the speed boost on hit, replace it with the ability to climb walls. Hitting a wall takes out big chunks of your health which makes the slower health drain a - since you also get health back more slowly. If your health bottoms out you lose the ability to climb. Give the speed on hit to the Warriors Spirit since that weapon would actually benefit from that.

My thought process was that I wasn't sure the ability to climb would be worth the loss of speed, but then the speed isn't worth using the weapon for so why keep it. In that case climbing would be the upside, faster swing speed facilitates this, losing chunks of maximum health every time you hit a wall that regens at the current EN rate is the cost, and lower damage is the downside.

Warrior's Spirit honestly ain't bad in my experience. Saxton is 2-hitting you either way. Weather he deals 195 damage or 253 isn't a huge difference maker. The only time it hurts is when you have a Medic healing you (Where it goes from a three shot to a two shot), but since whenever you punch Hale he gets sent flying, you'll get enough time for him to possibly be distracted by other things or otherwise be able to retreat, or for you to be healed enough to get that extra health you need to survive another hit (Further helped by the heal on hit). The extra damage and suitability also means that they're among the best melee for a last stand sort of fist fight if you're some kind of melee god.

I honestly think that the warrior's spirit is actually quite good. The damage vulnerability isn't enough that hale can now one shot you, and the health you regain on hit can help you recover if you do get hit. I've had moments where I was able to heal myself back to full just with the warrior's spirit after getting hit once by Hale

Very important: using the warriors spirit is extremely good in VSH, generally with even a modicum of skill, the knockback will send him flying out of range causing him to miss, combine that with 200-300 dmg per hit and it becomes easy to deal an upwards of 3k dmg no sweat.
