@@oliversakic5907 very slow, like, unusable. i have no idea how some people can use 6.1.6 on 3GS. that's why 4.1 is better. or you can downgrade to 3.1.3 using alloc8

Quick tip: If it doesn’t work the first time, click ok and do it over again from shift and restore, keep on doing it until it works

There are two options: One you can restore the iPhone to 4.1 again (trust me I had that issue to and doing that worked for me) or two use another program that takes the phone out of recovery mode (i use iMyFone Fixppo but I discovered that issue and worked after 2nd try).

HELP mine got to the ios 4 screen but itunes told me this: The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. You actually need to install iOS 3.1.3 then 4.1.2....Apple decided it would be cool to blacklist the certs for the ipsw files for non .X.X versions of iOS...

If doasent work, after dfu mode and have install ios 4.1, you need to install a second time ios 4.1 (clik again “restore” eith shift and select ios4.1) and after that open and use ireb! 4 me it work like that👌🏼

True. You can use Geekgrade though if you are ok with needing a computer with redsn0w installed in order to boot the iPod if you shut it off/if it runs out of battery.

Even if your 3GS came with iOS 5.x.x, you should still be able to downgrade to iOS 4.1. Mine came with iOS 4.2.1, and still downgraded.

uhh u dont need dfu but u do need itunes 10 (I use itunes 10 for my iPod touch 3rd generation) here is how to get itunes 10 1. download itunes 10 to ur computer 2. delete every thing from apple on ur computer 3. go to ur music library click on "iTunes" rename "itunes library.itl" to "tiunes library.bak" 4. reboot ur computer 5. install itunes 10 6. ur good :)
