How To Download And Update SP Daten Files

An easy way of updating your SP-Daten files using BMW Coding Tool.
Note: The folder location of downloaded and unzipped Daten Files doesn't matter. The software will do everything for you. It is important to check the paths to NCSEXPERT, EDIABAS and Winkfp as I show you.

Hi Joonas thank you for your excellent simple videos, I have a question - I already have the latest SP-Daten files, do I still need to use BMW coding tool or can I import into winkfp and skip this step? Also for example if I had older SP-Daten files such as v.60, would BMW coding tools update my SP-Daten to the latest version v.69? Thanks

You can switch between different SP-Daten versions by choosing the folder you want as a source. Your v60 daten files get updated to V69 when you first download V69 files from the internet and then choose them as source folder. Also if you already have SP-Datens updated you only need to import to winkfp because it can only hold 1 chassis at a time

Hey, I have a question/problem. I can‘t install the E60 SP-Datas. There is always an error. (Archive error in winrar) Can you help me to fix the problem?

No problem! First I would suggest downloading 7ZIP and using it for opening the zip file. This way we can make sure that the file itself is ok and WinRar just causes that random problem. If this doesn't help let me know and I'll give you my email.

Hi Joonas, Thank you for the Video. how can I find the same update for E87? I have a BMW 116i 2008 and after I tried to coded the car for faulty ABS and some other parts, I lost my speedometer and my fuel gage accuracy! and all my warning light came back. when I clearer the codes with Carly, they go away but they come back after 5 second of driving and the problem of pedometer and my fuel gage kicks in... I searched on the net and apparently I have an old data on my ISTA-D AND ISTA-P. could you help please? thank you.

Hi! For E87 you will use E89 SP Daten files. After you have updated the files like shown in the video you will open NCSExpert and factory code your new ABS Module.

Hi Daniel! These won't brick your modules. I've went 3 years with these files and done countless operations with 60+ different vehicles and numerous series (E46,E39,E9X,E6X etc.). I get his point but bimmergeeks is a reliable source indeed. I'd be generally careful downloading daten files from random sources These are version 60.1 currently there and they will do fine with E-Series. NCExpert.com has the V68.1 for 15$ per chassis if you need them ncs-expert.com/sp-daten-updated-to-v68-1

I just have .rar files they aren’t folders or anything so it did nothing for me. Any ideas as of to why this is happening to me?

You need to have 7zip or Winrar etc or your computer won't know how to deal with zipped folders. If you have one of these make sure to right click and manually open them with 7zip or similar. If none these work let me know

@@Bemaritohtori so this is the error I get when I go to ncs expert I’m trying to update the vin number on my electric hand brake for my BMW X5 e70 and after clicking on chassis and cas I get this “FA error COAPI-2000: Error in EDIABAS or in SG description file BIP-0001: Too long job parameter or string register access CAS COAPI-2000: Error in EDIABAS or in SG description file FA_READ COAPI-2000: Error in EDIABAS or in SG description file FA_READ: A_E65CAS” I updated my dates files and I got the software from bimmergeaks and I just don’t understand like I have everything set to what it’s supposed to be the cable is com 1 latency 1 like everything is up to date and connecting to my car the only issue is I can’t clear the park light on my dash

@@Fancy669 yes, the coding tool will scatter the files to correct locations for updated options to be available when using NCSExpert etc.

@@Fancy669 make sure you have the folder settings set correct inside the coding tool like shown in the video. If it still says 0 updated, then your files are at least as new as the ones on the video.

Sometimes there are no new relevant changes for older models in different versions. Which model are you updating?

Hi Steve! This procedure will remain on the laptop so no need to do it everytime you start programming. However next step is to import these files to WinKFP before programming. I like to do that everytime before I do any programming just in case. I will email you.

@@joshf3604 sorry for the late answer, I get no notifications from comments. You should watch my second video. This program works great but for some reason WinKFP usually needs manual import of files. I have a tutorial on that

Sorry for being unclear!👍🏻 That part isn't relevant. I just showed where I stored my SP-Daten files. They can be stored at the desktop and after that you select the file location inside BMW coding tool. Just make sure you select the folder that reads the chassis (E39 or E46 etc.) Like shown at 2:09 Only important part is that you know where you stored them. @@Fancy669 The coding tool will update your NCS Expert so you have latest coding options. You will need to update WinKFP when you are about to program a software update for any of your modules. I have a separate video about winkfp.

Base folder is not needed. It contains the earliest version of SP Daten files.

That doesn't sound that familiar to me. It isn't required for any regular procedure.

@Tomi It's a bit tricky as you need to know which versions were released at a certain date. Generally if you have never updated them and you are using files that came with your software they should be updated. Bimmergeeks usually has the latest versions

@@tomi3788 oh now I understand. I'll try to figure it out. Oot vissiin ihan suomalainen niin laitan suomeks😅 Eli sieltä tiedostoista pitäis näkyä muokkauspäivämäärä. Kannattaa valita ne mitkä on uusimmat. Eli jos sulla on esim E46 dataa useampi kappale niin käy vähän tiedostoja läpi niin selviää kumpi on uusimmasta päästä. Jos ei selviä muuten niin nuo bimmergeeksin on 2017 ja ne on siinä kohtaa hyvä ladata. Sitä uudemmat on ainakin tähän asti ollut joka paikassa hintalapun kanssa
