For everyone having the problem activating the cats addon: just remove the 'TESTING' from line 319 in the _init_.py script so that the code line reads "bpy.context.window_manager.addon_support = {'OFFICIAL', 'COMMUNITY'}" . but I don't yet know, if that will break the plugin in it's functionality. also I've installed blender 3.5.1

@@KarasuDeArtist I unzipped it, edited the file, then rezipped the directory with the changed file and added the new zip as an add-on.

@@Catzeproduction On Windows, right click "unzip" or "extract", then in that extracted folder, follow the steps in the comment, then in the folder you just extracted click an option that says either "send to > compressed (zipped) folder" or "add to archive" Blender wants to use that zipped file that you edited

For people not being able to find or delete the "testing" part - I couldn't find it either. But I unzipped the file - went into blender and tried installing just the "__init__.py" file and that worked?!? Not sure how or why but the addon seems to function for now me anyway. Hope it helps.

what i did to fix the error everyone is having which worked with blender 4.0 was downloaded cats then i extracted the file while also keeping the orignal file then so u will have two at this point then u go into the extracted file and find the document called "__init_.py" and once in there find " 'Testing' " U want to delete that and save then exit that file and copy the init file u just edited and copy that to the downloaded file when u do it should say "do u want to replace the file with this name" or something all u do it press yes and it should work.

So I am running into a weird problem. Blender keeps trying to look for settings.json inside of the resources folder for the plugin. I can't seem to find a version on the web that has that. I wouldn't even know what the syntax would be for trying to make one myself. Is there any way to fix this?

How the hell does it JUST WORK perfectly for you but all kinds of people are having the same error issue. All you have to do is change the code. Maybe more people will give to your patreon.

I’m beyond pissed at this point is cats the only thing for testing/rigging bones. Like the download works for me but as soon as I tried to add it on it won’t pop up unless I have it unzipped but then when it’s unzipped now there’s thousands of things I have to add to it and then after selecting everything it still doesn’t say that it’s been added .

This is 5 months late lmfao BUUUTTT So I just tried to install the cats plugin for like the 2nd time after a couple months, so when you see the traceback error just close the little tab that popped up and just press the "N" key, cats should just pop up while saying you have the error, at least it did for me

Hello sensei i have 3 questions First of all when you paint weight how did you mirror it so that when you painted on the left side of the chest it automatically applied on the right side simultaenously secondly with the cats plugin can you retarget animation from mixamo and How? thirdly when you are done rigging and weight painting how do you set drivers or controls to the bones, is it different from the usual way in every other tutorial and if there is a diiffernt way how do you change those fk legs to iK for hand keyed animation

i'm going to try your version of blender & cats from the same sources, but i swear to glob... This is the WORST plugin i've ever seen in my life because it simply DOES NOT work. I've tried different versions of cats on multiple different version of Blender, even 3.6, & i ALWAYS,.. & i mean ALWAYS get some sort of Traceback Call error. This Add-on is an absolute NIGHTMARE to install & no one should have to experience these things on ANYTHING that has been released. If the fix model button won't work, then the addon is rendered useless. Even if i can get it to work this time, the Cats add-on gets 2 stars. Absolutely terrible. Just badly developed lol Update Edit: IT worked. Your version of both cats & blender WORKED! ! I'd give you a glob damn hug if I could & even a kiss if you'd let me lmao! ! X'D ... Thak you so much. @@TheFloofy I also struggle with listening to certain sounds and noises, and i've never acted like you. i've also struggled with years of speech therapy, social anxiety and being mute. to comment the best i can do is anger inducing and i should put a warning on my own voice is mean and inconsiderate. have you considered muting the video and turning on subtitles or just not watching at all? This is not something i do on purpose. this is just my voice. should i also walk around with a mask on that says "this persons voice might upset you consider not interacting with them at all" or maybe give everyone a slip of paper they can sign off before consenting to hearing my voice? there are things in place that you can do to make yourself more comfortable. there is nothing i can do to change my own voice. you say you are uncomfortable listening to me, imagine how uncomfortable i am having people complain about something i've spent years trying to improve.

It sounded like it was either on your lips or legit in your mouth because you can hear everything from your throat- even the salivation/lip smacking. It's like hearing someone chew- hence the misophonia comment because that's what typically triggers it for me. If my comment hurt your feelings then I apologize. If I knew what I said was going to make you blow up- I would have not said anything at all. Not everything on the internet is a personal attack though... Consider this my last message. If you're going to continue, it's on you. I tried apologizing and correcting the miscommunication but the way you handled this was too much for my anxiety.
