Open With > Choose another app > more apps. Checkmark “Always use this app to open .rar files” then keep scrolling down until you see “Look for another app on this PC”. Find where your 7-zip installation folder is located so for me it is in my program files on my C: Drive where I installed it, select 7zFM and then click open. After extracting a game? Did you make sure that the path is set to your desktop and not somewhere else? Also if so have you tried changing the 7-zip extracting path to another place on your desktop when you are in the extracting windows?

when I download a game on windows 10 it downloads as a 7-zip file since i already downloaded 7-zip then i right click, 7-zip, extract files. Then i open the file in that file that just appeared and it says i cannot open them for each file i try i tried all of these sharedassets0, globalgamemanagers, sharedassets2, and sharedassets5. That is a weird thing to have happen, not sure what is causing that to happen. So does a windows explorer not pop up at all when clicking on download? Are you using Google Chrome? Is so you can try deleting your cache/cookies in your browser in case something needs to be reset.

That is a strange issue. Is it only with that game? I recommend using the itch client to play Friday Night Funkin if you can, that issue sounds like a possible bug.

Hmm. I don't believe Among us for PC is free on itch.io at least I couldn't find anything. The only thing I know is the phone version being free while the PC cost $5 USD. You should be fine with most itch.io games on the website. Always check the comments to be sure before downloading anything. Sometimes your anti-virus might get a false positive so double check your download if that happens.

Hmm, when downloading the app from the website? It sounds like your virus protection might be affecting something when downloading. You may want to disable it and then turn it back on afterward. Updating your Windows might help too, that is all I can think of.

The 7-zip app right? It's normal that it doesn't create a desktop shortcut when you install it. You can type "7-zip" in your Windows search bar to find the 7-zip app if you prefer. For the tutorial, there isn't a need to go into the 7-zip app directly if that is what you are wondering.

I am not sure about that it may be something related with your computer such as needing to update your video card drivers to the latest. You can try downloading the itch launcher to see if it changes anything. If not then it might be a software or hardware issue.

It's probably your virus protector being overly sensitive. You might want to try and disable it and then try downloading a game. An alternative is downloading the itch.io app which makes it easier to play games.

That seems to have happened to some people in the past and it looks like it is a bug. There alternative method to get to the same window is right-clicking on your .zip/.rar file > select properties. In the new window look for the word "Change" and click on it. The same window that is in the video should open up and you should be good to go with the rest of it.

Yeah, it is a known issues with Windows 10 for some people. Here is an article on how to fix it that requires some tinkering. www.howtogeek.com/261076/how-to-fix-the-missing-open-with-option-on-the-windows-10-right-click-context-menu/ However, you should be able to get to the same window by right-clicking on the game file > select properties. In the new window that comes up click on "change" which will open the same window as the "Open With" method. You should be able to continue with the tutorial from there. Anytime I mention "Open with" repeat the process. If you still are having issues then consider downloading the itch.io app.

Usually. that means your download was interrupted while downloading and it gets corrupted. You could try using a different internet browser to see if that helps.

@@barron227 Oh yeah that is normal, I've been using 7-zip for years and never had an issues with it. It's a safe program. Windows tends to always asks that when a program makes changes to your files in this instance chain your .zip to 7-zip format.

Ahhh, it looks like you ran into the Windows 10 bug that a few others have commented on. I recommend downloading the itch.io app and installing the games there. The bug is a little weird to fix and requires tinkering with certain files. Huh, that is a odd issue I don't believe I heard of before. Did you try clearing out your cookies on your browser which can sometimes help with things not working? Another alternate is using the itch.io client which I recommend most of the time.

I never heard of S mode until now, it seems like a secure mode which I guess is why it is called "S" mode. It basically allows you to only download most things from the Microsoft Store. That is weird. I have no idea why your WinRAR would be doing that. I haven't used it in some time so I am not sure I can help. You may want to uninstall it and reinstall. Although if you are going through this tutorial 7-zip is the only thing I covered. If possible try using 7-zip and uninstalling WinRAR.

Right-click on that game file > select properties > next to "open with" click on change. When the new window comes up find 7-zip file in the list > click on it and then press the OK button. Your files from that .zip or .rar file should change into 7z. You may need to restart your computer to see a visual change.

Is it the Presskit version? If so then there are only screenshots and logos in that folder for reviews and such. The $1.93 USD paid version is the actual game which will have the .exe.

Hmm, I have seen a few people come across the same issue and it tends to be to their virus protection being over sensitive. It usually deletes the files because it detects them as a false positive. It might be easier to download the games through the itch.io app! I recommend giving it a try.

Usually, you get that error if it is extracted wrong, it could also be the game itself. What game are you trying to extract or is this happening with every game?
