@@ms_needle you know what it is, I don't have like a "community" that I can be motivated to go and sew together. You know, like a sewing club or something... And I guess that's what demotivates me that I procrastinate a lot🤷🏿♂️
@ms_needle2 жыл бұрын
@@kmrf27 oh that is actually a cool idea! Wish i had somethin like that here as well. Would be fun too. I feel ya. I made some pieces of clothing that turned out average as well. The Method that worked best for me is sewing in pieces of fabric until it fits me perfectly haha. The fit is really all about making a good pattern if you got some clothes that fit u well and are not totally deformed from wearing or washing them too often u can use them as patterns and use a good ruler or somethin straight to connect lines. I got so frustrated at one point that i made a one piece patchwork jacket like sewing piece upon piece of fabric and cuttin pieces away and adding whereever the body needs it to fit better. But it all has a down side too like sewing lining is pretty much impossible with that approach 😂 but its lookin pretty cool so far id say. Maybe u can try somethin like that too? Pants are the most difficult id say to make and get the fit right. And sidenote i just use fabrics or old jeans that dont fit anymore etc whatever is at hand. Maybe this gave u some Inspiration 😌

The first thing that struck me was that you have a very friendly/kind-looking face. That is definitely a bonus for doing videos. Thank you very much for explaining this. I'm just starting to learn how to sew (not counting the home ec class 30+ years ago). I absolutely hate store-bought patterns because they tear so easily so making my own patterns is something I want to do. Plus I can get better fit that way. I'm hoping I'll be able to make stuff for family members. I've been perusing pants tutorials and trying to figure out how to get the best fit. This is very helpful. I haven't seen your tarot card videos yet, but my mother used to do tarot card readings.

Hey there. Thank you so much for making this video. I spent the day mocking up a pair of paints and shirt. Would you be able to make a video showing how you fit the pants after you’ve made them? Like how are you making the necessary adjustments to get a better fit for your garment? That would be really helpful! Thank you for all the time you’ve been putting into your videos!

I love your enthusiasm and energy. I'm watching and hoping to pick up something I'm missing. I sewed my first mockup of my pants pattern tonight. It came out sad. The rise was way too short. Maybe I just like high waist pants. I think I got the leg widths right. I'm back to the drawing board. I definitely need to work something out. I'm not too upset. It was my first pair, and I used a Goodwill sheet that I paid $4. I'm out a little time, but I feel like I learned something. I will use the fabric for pockets or bag linning. I don't waste fabric. It seems like a lot of the women's videos are making low-rise pants. I need mom style. I'm older and have shape issues. I just need another explanation.

This video rocks! Thank you. I'm up to pants # three from a self drafted pj tutorial. I had no idea of what I was doing or what the shapes ment as I traced a pair of pants. Here's a tip for novice pattern making : dollar store has wrapping paper for, yes you guessed it, a buck. But the best part is that it has a grid printed on the underside. I was not ready to spend big cough on proper paper so when I found this I was thrilled. Bad part is that you can't see through it for tracing. I think a tracing wheel would work great. Great job on the video production. You taught an old dog new tricks.

For those with large than usual calves measure them as well. Had a tradition of getting sheepskin boots for Christmas each year on my family get together from a craftsman n a mall along the way. His pattern fit the usual guy but being a runner my calves were much more developed and he had to insert a v piece in back to get them to fit.

Thank you so much! Every time I go to the tailor to get a custom-made pair of pants, they somehow get it wrong. The thighs are either too tight that the pants would rip instantly if they are not denim, or the butt part is too loose and I look like I have my swag on. So I decided to get my grandma’s vintage sewing machine and teach myself how to sew. I have to say it was harder than I expected, but at the end of the day, I finally made a pair of pants that fits me very veryyyy well.

extremely cool but for the people that want an invisible dart just draw a horizontal line from your side seam to the center front just below the point of the darts. cut this line (on the pattern paper not the actual pant) and close the darts. This forces the dart into the "seam". the bottom edge will seem a little bumpy with a series of straight edges from the side to the other. Just smooth that out and draw a nice curve at the bottom edge of the yoke. Or if you dont understand just search "Drafting a skirt with Waist Yoke".
