I love these ~ And this video answered my question of how to “loosen” the shawl when it fits a bit too snuggly for one’s taste. With my other drafts I found it sat too snuggly to my neck. This video gives options to solves that problem?

❤wonderful! Perfect timing for those of us altering shirt patterns & working on this winter's wool twill. You are clear, easy to understand, right on topic showing how.

Hi Diana, thank you so much! I cringe a bit when I look back at my first tutorials all these years ago, so I thought the 7 years anniversary was a perfect time to make a clearer one, especially as I’m mostly posting on Instagram and Patreon now. I’m glad you liked the construction tips too, it’s something I too often forget!

Hi Charlotta. I love your videos, they have helped me so much. I successfully drafted a shawl collar following your teaching. Would you be able to show us how to change a one piece sleeve to a two piece sleeve. I have a lovely jacket pattern but it has a very basic one piece sleeve and I want it to be a two piece sleeve. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.

@charlotta_patterncuttingschool3 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it Phyllis! What do you mean by slash exactly-where on the collar?
@phyllisgordon65773 жыл бұрын
I saw another tutorial by Diane Deziel. She slashed and spread the back portion of the collar for better fit.

Yes, I need to add a wee bit more on the collar turn when using thick fabric and jacquard.
@charlotta_patterncuttingschool3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, it totally depends on the fabric

How do you sew in the lining??
@charlotta_patterncuttingschool2 жыл бұрын
You stitch it together separately and then stitch it to the outer.
@dreamervanroomАй бұрын
I decided to check and see if we were talking about the same thing. What I pictured as a shock collar was on a jacket and I think that would you pictured as a shock collar is on a sweater and his clothes below the shock collar. Not putting a picture at the beginning of your video makes things confusing and not good so I think that doing that would be an improvement a great improvement
@charlotta_patterncuttingschoolАй бұрын
Hello, good idea. There is also an image on the thumbnail. For me this shawl collar can be used for jackets, coats and any neckline really. I draft for woven.
@barbiedesoto70543 жыл бұрын
Is it a shawl collar when it just barely goes up on the neck like in a lot of McCardell designs?
@charlotta_patterncuttingschool3 жыл бұрын
It’s actually a bit different, It comes out of the bodice, but still has a shoulder seam and the back part of the collar rises out of the back bodice
@RespectIslam2 жыл бұрын
How to join lining?
@charlotta_patterncuttingschool2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I haven’t got a tutorial for that specifically, but try using the bodice with the facing cut off
