What happened at 3:36 where you drew contour guide #6? You said to use 7/8" in total, but this was offset from the line you drew down from the shoulder centre, not split equally either side of that line. Why? By how much? Also, why did you switch from inches to cm when marking the style lines either side of contour guide #5?
@BobbinAndDrew4 жыл бұрын
hi, *Gothic*Rock*Goddess*, On Contour guide #6, yes total is 7/8". I noticed that in the patternmaking books, they always mention to split this equally. But there are a lot of ways to give the bustier somewhat a better shaping, that's why I have used only 1/4" on the right of contour guide #6 and the remaining 5/8" i have marked to the left of the countour guide. If you are making a mockup, try splitting the 7/8 equally, and make another one by 1/4" & 5/8". You as the designer might visually prefer one from the other. On your question about contour guide #5, where I switch from inches to cm... I tend to work using both imperial and metric system. 3cm is easier to mention than 1 and 3/16" ... 😊 Also, I want to note that depending on the body type, these contour guides can always be increased & reduced. These are just standard measurements that we can use to start with our pattern draft. Thank you for your comment, take care, and enjoy creating!

3" that u take for bust circle..is it standard for all size..pls tell for all sizes
@BobbinAndDrew3 жыл бұрын
Hi V Singh, most of the time it is. However if you want to be very particular, you can measure from the highest point of the bust (nipple) until the empire. That is the bust radius. Take care and enjoy creating.

Hello, at 7:22 why did you extend the patterns by 1/4 inch please?
@BobbinAndDrew3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathaniel, your would notice that when we split our patterns there would be pointed edges, the 1/4 is to give shaping to the bust... However, if the person going to wear this garment woud wear a padded bra or extra foam underneath then you would not add 1/4 but instead a higher amount of 1/2 or 3/4.

Hi, Dhruv Painuly. I have a video explaining the contouring concept on this link kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5C7gH-VrMSNr6M . I took 1/2" at the side seam as I need to eliminate the gaping on that area. I will be uploading the back pattern for my next content. Take care, Dhruv, and enjoy creating.

Hi! I want to make this exact kind of top, except with sleeves. So would I just extend side cup A to the neckline? Would the construction of it be any different otherwise? I've made a bodice block, but am new to pattern drafting.. Thank you.
