I was doing fine with this until I got to the shading. It ended up looking like the face of a woman who has been in a brawl. I just don't have the patience to learn how to draw like this. Great video though I've never been able to draw a face as well before.

you are very good, i may never be as good as you, i have been practising this face for week now, i am getting better, a better line, eyes more correct, better hair, it's the shading that i am struggling with, even that seems to be better, not so hard of a line, shaded out very softly,, i am getting better, i have kept the drawings i am working on, dated them, go back over your lesson, straigthened a line here, shaded as youv'e shown on YT, i want another week of practise before moving onto the next lesson. thanks again for your time and making these instructional vids.

I tried this yesterday and I'm actually impressed with what I drew. I wish I could post it in the comments. Our faces look so different, but I think it's so cool because even with the same steps, we created two different 'people' lol. I love step by step tutorials - it truly helps a ton! I hope I get better at drawing realistic faces in time. I'm trying to learn how to draw faces + to fashion illustrate. I act background in art, but I just never been great at drawing realistic humans. I always just drew what came to mind. A lot of my artwork is in the style of Tim Burton - one of my fav artists. I tried doing this with a 4B pencil, and I ended up having to start over because it was too heavy of lead... Idk if I was putting too much pressure on the pencil, or if it is just too dark, but I am doing it with a 2H pencil now, and it is working perfectly. Maybe it just depends on where your set is from? Mine is just Walmart ''simply basic'' brand.
