Freestyling it, and just awsome; a lot of people will tell "hey, your gifted!" Or say "you have so much talent", which is stupid, even insutlging, minimizing all to a word like that. I know there is a lot of study, practice, probably a lot of books and classes behind this, none was born learning how to draw and you are here giving us a nice class with a "hands on" aproach, thank you so much

Finally, this is it! Thank you so much. I was obsessing about trying to achieve too much realism. Here, I love to see the pencil strokes, and the shading can be loose. This is art. If we already have a photograph, it IS boring to try to draw one. Relief! Please, please share the exact paper and which side you used here. I love the way it shows texture -- but not harsh. Please include brand, weight, color of paper (looks cream.) Perhaps you have a favorite? Now I don't have to question myself, I just need the right tools. I'm about to attempt a portrait of a beautiful young girl. (The reference photograph has a sepia tone.) Your video is the perfect inspiration. WOW!
@ArtofWeiHo9 жыл бұрын
Tammy Woods Thank you Tammy. Yeah, you know, I don't care much for photorealism. I love seeing other artist's strokes on paper. As for paper, it's just regular drawing paper with some weight to it. I don't remember which ones I've used, but the ones I have it Strathmore paper, anywhere from 50 to 100lbs. Pencil is Steadtler, mostly 2B and 4B.

Hey Wei. How come on some of your portraits you start in a very specific place, like the eye brow, and measure things from there, and in this one you're just guessing by eye the and roughing in the basic shapes? Is one technique better than the other or is it natural to try and work on both? I personally find measuring from one place (left eye to edge of nose, nose to mouth, etc) easier than the way you do it in this video. Thanks - love your videos
