I really like that you did this video, its great for people like me who are just getting into henna, not only can I watch in real time how you do these simple designs but I can see how and where to add extra elements to make it even better. Then if I ever get into henna for business I know how much to charge! Id love to see more videos like this >.

these designs are so gorgeous. i love doing henna. however i think many artists overcharge their designs, based on the fact that henna paste is inexpensive. Then again, it depends on how much the paste that you buy costs/ the specific place you are working at.

This is just a preview, on paper, of what she would do on the skin. And it's not an ink, it's henna paste, made from the powdered leaves of the henna tree, with water and usually coffee +some henna or eucalyptus oil. You leave the paste stand overnight, then cram it into a homemade cellophane cone of which you secure the upper end with tape and cut a tiny bit of the point, so that the paste can flow more or less according to your squeeze.

you definitely do not overcharge. i have been charged 15 for really crappy henna designs. these are beautiful and i am learning now so i hope to be this good. i am having trouble using cones, so i use syringe applicator bottles right now but your work with the cones is amazing.. the henna glides out beautifully. do you make your own?

In New England, especially Connecticut, I actually hear ALL the time from my customers how cheap my festival pricing is compared to all the other henna artists they've gone to in the past. It's all about what market you're in! Where are you located?

You'd tweak it to fit the area of the body where it would go, but more or less as is, it would make a nice inner forearm or upper arm piece.

great video and the pricing outline is also good but sadly in asian country(specially indian community) they dont treat henna artist as artist but rather as handy worker and dont pay much they pay $5 reluctantly for one henna border sad but true and now many new artist happily break the market
@HennaByHeather8 жыл бұрын
+artpassion I know - it's true. Believe me, there are plenty of events in the US where they think that paying $5 for a design is too much as well... So I just don't do those events :) :) :) I find that the best places to do henna are community festivals, art fairs, and, to a lesser degree, music festivals. And then of course private parties, too - but that's hourly rather than by the design.
@artpassion8 жыл бұрын
yes thats the reason i stopped doing all those fairs and was mostly doing bridal and wedding and those kind of parties and strictly on hourly bases otherwise they dont value our time and make us waiting like (i dont want to use word here but hope you understand what i mean) ... its all part of work though thanks a lot for this wonderful reply

Hey guys....this is 4 years old...and the $5 and $10 price points are still right on... but technically I no longer offer $5 designs in my booth. And guess what - no one cares! Literally only two people in five long festival days, mostly at events I've done in past years, even inquired about where they went. Also, the $15 design is significantly more than what I do for $15 now. And by the time we get to what I called $20 here, it's actually a $25. At least in my booth :) Do what feels good and right for you!!

@cruzjose1997jc9 жыл бұрын
I think she is using the henna paste. You could get it from any local Indian store or purchase it from Amazon or eBay. I heard that it's best to make it yourself to guarantee it's natural; you should do some research on that. Oh, and the black henna is said to be dangerous because a lot of people have some sort of allergy or something, so keep your eye out on that. I'm no expert but that's just what I've heard. I don't even do henna! xD Hope it was helpful though! :)

@HennaByHeather9 жыл бұрын
+Kiyahz Sayers Like anything, it takes time to learn. It wouldn't be something to do at a fair right away before you've had enough practice to gain confidence. If someone's pressuring you into it, you can show them this comment :)
@HennaByHeather9 жыл бұрын
+Pink Peach I love your advice that it is easy if you practice :) That is the truth!!! I think that Moroccan henna is easier for you because you are more used to doing it, maybe - lots of Indian henna artists think that Moroccan style is hard!
