Try to see it as a whole piece, add guide lines first and pick shapes , try to see what the shape of the eyes is ,for ex.

You can usually get them at an art supply store. I know I got mine at a Michaels, but I don't know if you're from a different country or not. You can also order them online, but you probably can't get a black Prismacolor on its own.

This was a great video, I'm so glad I found it. I do a lot of sewing and embroidery, and my daughter has been wanting me to embroider her a picture for her room. She's really into mermaids right now so I'm going to embroider an underwater scene with a mermaid.
