Idea for next video: Make a reverse-mermaid. Meaning a lower parts of a woman, upper part of a fish.It's more interesting and artistic than a conventional mermaid.

Try to see it as a whole piece, add guide lines first and pick shapes , try to see what the shape of the eyes is ,for ex.

Great video, although some parts are time lapsed, it is a great tutorial. Good explaining of technics. The gauche gives a great effect, I am totally goning to try this, on bleu paper is indeed a good idea.

This was a great video, I'm so glad I found it. I do a lot of sewing and embroidery, and my daughter has been wanting me to embroider her a picture for her room. She's really into mermaids right now so I'm going to embroider an underwater scene with a mermaid. Something i don't get, though, as cute as it shows, the wavy membrane thingy that marks the start of the scaly part. as cute as it is, seems placed odd, both for a fish or a mermaid, at least, positioned upward like it is. But it is still a rather cute detail

amazing lesson to do the scales you allrady graphed it the corect way the next part is locating yr light source then all you do is create smiley faces on the diagonal oposite the light source ... if you also dont have photoshop scanner just reduplicate yr original image oldskool trace ;) people think tracing paper is cheating ..Personally i call it genious as its a translucent way to see yr image lines :D and its using all available tools in yr box of TRIX:) even the old MASTERS used tracing papers and lightboxes to create there masterpieces :) oh towards the bottom for scales fade the smiley faces and make them loose ;) subscribed and youve given me plenty of ideas for upcoming projects :D

You know what- I discovered Mark a looong time ago back when comcast was still affordable. Found him on OnDemand. I have to say I still love Mark. My artistic abilities have become much better not necessary because of his tutorials but because he gives me hope. This helped me so much to draw mermaids because I always mess up where the waist meets the tail and usually the torso and tail. The idea to also use a fish reference also helped too! For some reason I like koi tails, angel fish tails and goldfish tails XD jellyfish is kinda interesting to use lol. Though a tutorial of you drawing a naga (human and serpent) would be epic : D The time lapse I don't mind. And the scales /shudders/.
