if any of you guys are struggling with colors i highly recommend using the app "Colored Pencil Picker" i cant remember if there is a trial version or not but to buy it is like $8 and best 8 bucks i ever spent. You select which colored pencils you have ( Prismacolor, caran dache, etc) then upload your reference photo and it will tell you what colors to use

A beautiful drawing. Crayons are ideal for such work. Which white pencil is best for drawing on layers? Polychromos is not suitable for this. I see you are using Caran d’Ache Luminance. The mustache can be pressed with a pen through a tracing paper.

Can you recommend a solvent that is available in the USA? It seems Zest It is only available in the UK without a lot of shipping costs. Most of the solvents I found are for oil painting, so not sure they will work with colored pencil. Thanks!

You can use any (odorless) paint thinner, for example Mona Lisa Paint thinner. Technically you can also use terpentine but the smell is horribly strong. But don't use baby oil to blend colored pencils, it would be not archival and leave ugly stains and doesn't dry properly

Hi this is wonderful. I never used colour pencil before and only been drawing and painting just over a year so can I ask if this is textured paper? And how easy is it to get the effect of orange colours on the tiger to interact over the black stripes. I was under the impression nothing would cover the black? This is beautiful your very talented

It’s very slightly textured. It’s a hot pressed watercolour paper, so mainly smooth, but ever such a slight texture to grab the pigment of the pencil. I layer the lighter colours first, after blocking out the stripes lightly, so the black actually ends up going on last and over the orange. I also used a solvent here which makes it easier to add lighter colours over dark.

This should he called how to color a tiger. The drawing aspect isn't touched at all except for a 2 second "blip" at the start.
