I was always wondering how far I can spread with only sticking to a topic like landscapes. It is kind of hard to market them and to really get the attention (at first) but I find that pretty much everyone that I show enjoys them. Just proves that even small topics can be popular with a lot of people.

Yeah that is the tricky part. It took me a lot of reading and practice to see and understand how to do it correctly. Just like most things in life, we get better as we practice. I am glad it helped and thanks for posting!!

It could be the paper that you are using. Try to use a drawing paper with some texture or a bristol vellum paper. It will have natural texture to the paper which in turn will give your drawing a bit more texture. I also tend to vary the grades of pencils going from lighter ones to darker ones to get different effects.

You can always count on a reply when you comment on my videos. I know that not all youtubers will respond to their viewers comments. I like to show my viewers that I am here for them.

That is the essence of it. It is also about building up layers and volume to help simulate the leaves. It takes a bit of practice to begin to understand what is happening.

Hey Tyler I love your videos and I was wondering since I tend to draw manga do you think it is possible to draw two types of art? Because I want to be a good drawer like you!

BONSAI!!!! haha. I wish I could. I have been busy this week with work. Also have a holiday tomorrow as well lol. I actually really don't know why I haven't done one yet though. We have bonsai trees at the house. Ill for sure keep it in mind though for the future!

I was probably going to say something along the lines of getting in the texture and details really helps to get that realistic look. I also use a paint brush to clean up the eraser shavings instead of using my hand to wipe the page. It prevents smearing of the drawing.

@TylersArtShack thank you cuz iv been having alot of trouble on drawing leaves
@TylersArtShack11 жыл бұрын
I think the reason for that is because I have draw about a hundred trees and have just gotten so used to doing it. So I sort of know how to draw them in a timely manner which is why it makes it look easy. Starting off, it usually isn't. Takes time and practice. But a lot of it is in observation. Thanks a lot for the comment!

Tyler, thanks for uploading this. Great job! It's so helpful. Where did you get your incising tool. I have been having a hard time finding something like that. I've used a screw or small cork screw , but that is a little difficult to handle.
@TylersArtShack12 жыл бұрын
@terrydority I use clay tools for it. You can find them in a store with fine art materials. If you dont have anything like that by you. Another Idea would be to use a mechanical pencil with no graphite in it. Just use the metal tip on it. If I think of any other ideas, I'll get back to you.

Back when I was making these I did it in this way to prevent really long videos but it seems that people are willing to watch them. I still do videos in this way because a lot of people really like it. I have quite a few videos on my channel that show how to draw a tree in real time and will most likely end up doing more in the future.
@TylersArtShack12 жыл бұрын
@gameman81 I will use any paper that is 80Ib and higher. Acid free of course as well. This paper in particular happens to be 90Ib paper.

This was with my older camera and it didn't record as well as the one I am using now. Try going full screen. If that doesn't help you out, you can always check out some of my real time drawing series videos. They have trees as well that I draw in real time.
@TylersArtShack12 жыл бұрын
@ninjacupcakes24 I will have to do some SERIOUS digging around to see if I can find some. That is actually a great idea. I have a folder around somewhere of a bunch of old drawings I did so long ago.

I would love to see the video slowed at some point so we can really see how you're moving your hand to make the leaves. You say circular but it would be great to slow it down for a bit and to show us what 'circular motions' looks like. Thanks so much for these wonderful tutes!

Mostly self taught. I took a semester of art classes in college but they never really caught my interest in a way that wanted to make me get a degree in it. I have been drawing long before I took a class in college though.

Can you do a video for a bonzai tree? I'm having trouble with that. I have no time to figure it out either I need to finish my drawing by Friday (Black Friday), I know you probably can't do a video for it by then. But for future purposes I guess.

I have a tablet but I have just always preferred using traditional mediums.

A lot of the drawings that I will draw will usually come from my imagination. Not always though. I draw better when I have a photo reference. I can quickly run out of ideas when I am just going for it from memory.

tyler, i have a question. For some reason when i draw any type of tree it just looks bare (even with shading). is the texture just random lines like the kind you'd find on a wooden desk? i love your art btw :)

The leaves trick is cool for a lot of trees but what if the leaves of the tree are not round and very big, so when you see them from a far you can still notice the shape of the leaves? How would you imitate other shapes?
