when I try to create those grid lines, it creates a 3d cube with lines and grids not a 2d one like yours... Also I am having a problem finding the line segment tool on illustrator, please help !...Its my first time using illustrator.

If You click the small arrow above the Black arrow in the tool window it will fold out so You can see the line segment tool. But I dont know why Your grid is 3d Are You sure You do exactly as in the video? :)
