one of the coolest college professors I ever had. Shout out to Craig Babin. It's Kaylan Green from Niagara 2013. Good work

How are you Kaylan? It's great to hear from you. I figured you'd be sick of my tutorial videos by now. lol

@@CraigBabin no man, I found your videos really interesting and influenced me to get into vector art more. Didn't you teach 3d stuff ?
@CraigBabin Жыл бұрын
@@bahamianvideoarchives Yeah, mostly 3D. Well I'm glad somebody got something out of it. The majority of my students were either computer programmers or web designers, who really had no interest in 3D. Actually, I think that your year was one of the last years that 3D was taught in the New Media and Computer Programming courses.
@bahamianvideoarchives Жыл бұрын
@@CraigBabin wow, it's crazy that they discontinued 3d in that course. New media web design suppose to have a wide range of classed but I guess it's just geared towards more web design now. I want to get back into 3d but making the time seems difficult these days.

@@bahamianvideoarchives Actually, the New Media program doesn't even exist any more, Niagara got rid of it. But 3D Animation is still alive and well in the Game Development program.

Another great video!! 👏👏👏👍I want to ask you something about this subject. I use Adobe Illustrator, I know its basic features, but I have never tried drawing this way. While it is difficult for me to draw any pictures on paper, is it possible to make these drawings digitally? I think it is necessary to have painting knowledge and more comprehensive knowledge in order to make these drawings. I'm curious about your advice on this matter. Where should we start making this type of drawings? I want to do it but I don't know where to start?
@CraigBabin Жыл бұрын
There are basically two skills that you need to develop when you become an illustrator. The first is learning how to draw, and believe it or not, this is actually the easy part. All drawings are made up of two types of lines, straight lines and curved lines. So if you can print the word "IS", then you can draw. But you will need to spend time drawing to develop clean line work. Drawing with tutorials like this one is a great way to do that. The best thing you can do is just try to recreate other artists work, so you can develop the muscle memory that's required to create consistent line art. The second skill you need to develop, is the ability to interpret what you see, into an illustration. This is the part that takes years to master. Knowing which lines to draw when drawing a tree, takes quite a bit of time to learn how to do. Great artists are masters of this. The best thing you can do as a beginner, is to just focus on the first skill and keep doing tutorial after tutorial. You can even just try to redraw the artwork of some of you favorite artists. This will allow you to see how that artist is breaking down his/her subject matter. If you keep doing this, you will slowly develop the second skill over time. And finally, yes it is a little easier to draw digitally, than it is to draw on paper. Software like Adobe Illustrator is a lot more forgiving than a pen and paper. Best of luck!

Hey Craig! Cute little Snowman, have you used Adobe Fresco? and would you ever consider doing a tutorial in that ? with the Vector brush. Thanks.
@CraigBabin Жыл бұрын
Too be honest, I don't use it. Fresco was designed as a stripped down free version of Photoshop and Illustrator for mobile devices. I don't use mobile for drawing, I draw on my desktop with dual monitors and a Wacom tablet. Both Illustrator and Photoshop separately, can do so much more than Fresco, so for me to switch over to that (while I'm paying for a full Adobe Creative Cloud subscription), would be pointless. It's a nice little alternative for those who aren't ready to jump in to a full CC subscription, but it's by no means a replacement for those software. I just don't have the time to go learn a new software program when what I'm currently using gives me everything I need and more to make a living. But I'm sure you can find plenty of tutorials on Fresco throughout KZbin.

Its All good you still teach very patiently , yeah Adobe Fresco comes along with a CC Subscription, for me since I am just starting my KZbin journey its coming up with good ideas for videos is what I need to work on.@@CraigBabin

@@BluCranium I'm sure there's a big following for Fresco tutorials, so that's a good place to start for your channel.
