Susan! Thank you very much! I don't use fixatives. I use a frame with glass and a mat or put the tracing paper on top of the artwork so that there is no mechanical damage to the painting.

morcid mokamad yes but it is very fine the 1000 grit one that’s what Katya uses, it works very well and is so much cheaper than say pastelmat. You can get it from a hardware store or I got mine on eBay

For small sketches, I use regular 800 or 1000 grit sandpaper. Waterproof. I buy in hardware stores. For large paintings, I use professional pastel paper.
