I watched the entire video and still marvel at how it looks like a photograph from NatGeo. So very realistic! Great drawing tips.

I would love to see you work in real time, at least on a small section, to get a better sense of your color choices, number of layers, how much to blend, and anything else unique to pastel pencils. You are inspiring. Thank you,

Thank you I’ll try to add a segment at which I work at real time. It’s really difficult for me to draw and talk at the same time ,I usually just stammer the whole time. Thanks for watching

Do you find blocking in is easier or harder the more detail you put in the outline? My most recent outline is just about as detailed as yours, but I'm finding it harder to block in🤔🤨😮💨

Hi if your having difficulty rendering the piece after the drawing stage try working it shape to shape . If you work on a smaller area it may make it easier to put more detail. The first layer you lay down has very little detail you increase detail as you increase layers. I hope that helped . Thanks for watching my videos

Is it always better to draw all lines, the contour and everything before starting with all colours??
@josephhammond3637 Жыл бұрын
Hi it depends on the artist . I’ve seen artist start with a value then work it to a finished piece. Having said that for me it is the only way . Thanks for the question Joseph Hammond

Hello. Thank you for a brilliant lesson. Do you usually work flat whilst using pastels, or is that only for filming purposes? And how do you deal with the fallout dust?
@josephhammond363726 күн бұрын
Thanks for kind comment. I’m actually working on an easel, working flat can cause distortions and I don’t recommend it. Soft pastels creates a lot of dust and can be a problem getting everywhere. Pastel pencils which I’m using in this video doesn’t have as much of this problem. If you worry about the dust use a mask and work in a well ventilated room. I hope that helps

Thank you for replying so quickly, and on boxing day! I will be working on an easel from now on, so thanks for your comments.
