That was actress and style icon (not to mention one of the most beautiful women in history), Audrey Hepburn. Great video! I second everyone who said real-time drawing is better! The repetitive, “boring” stuff, and watching you fix problems in real-time is very valuable. We’d miss the discipline, patience, and critical thinking you employ if shown as time lapse.

Bro, I love the fact you didn't time lapse. Ton of useful information. Especially with the flipping throughout the sketch. That was a very useful gem. Love your work dude. And it's nice not having time lapse so we can hear what goes through your head. I do always see artists time lapse inking stages often, but frankly, I love actually seeing it done in real time. As a newbie, I struggle with consistent shading in shadowy areas. I always seem to want to ink everything or nothing lol.

Thanks very much for the awesome comment Adam! Really appreciate it. I like doing the real-time videos when I can. It is the same way that I would rather learn as well. I always picked up the best techniques by watching various artist draw at comic shows. I might have to do some over the shoulder videos real soon to see if that helps everyone! Keep up the hard work and more videos are on the way! Just uploaded a new one for inking in Procreate with some free brushes. You might want to give it a look! :) -Rob

We get to see what your doing and how you are doing it, plus we get to actually hear your thought process when correcting, adjusting, creating your work and as a result learn more. So many "tutorials" are just time laps showcasing that teaches you nothing!!!! Your vids have helped me in so many ways and your art is just quality.....thanks so much for taking the time to put these tutorials out for us guys, it means a lot to get all the help I need lol.

The problem I have with time-lapse is that I get a skewed sense of how long it *should* take to work on a piece. Granted, it makes for faster viewing, but if I watch you sketch like this, and hear your thoughts about why you make a specific change, and see the pace you are working at, then it gives me a much more realistic sense of what to expect from my own work. Killer Audrey Quinn there, btw :)

Great video! Love the insight to your process. For me I do prefer long form video as I use them as a learning tool but I get that most people watching youtube like to move on to the next video between 5-10 minutes later. Maybe you can time lapse and repetitive rendering bits and only show the sections when you're working to correct an error or making some stylistic decision. Would love to see videos on how you solve technical problems with illustrations in general and also in the comic book creation process

Timelapses are fine after an initial example(s) in technique. Like after you start hatching lines, then timelapse a full render sweep. Or pause if a different hatching technique is used. I do prefer mostly realtime, and your thought process when doing it :) ...Also a Jesters cap and bells hats have Horns, but the real technical term is "thingys" :P

i think time lapse is good once you've clearly illustrated a process, and you're going to be repeating the same process throughout a piece. However, in the case of something like this video, i think time lapse can be detrimental, because people miss out on the thought process that comes with the work. They may see the tweaks and adjustments, but they dont hear you thinking through it and explaining what you're seeing and doing.
