How to Draw Foreshortening

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Let's talk about foreshortening; the distorting that we see, when things are in perspective and overlapping. It can be very confusing and even a little bit scary. Today, I will model for you and together we will look at ways to use negative spaces and lights and darks and to trust our eyes.

A great tip and superb demonstration. You have a wonderful reassuring voice. You speak in way that encourages someone to try and have fun with this, despite the level of concentration needed to keep observing things like the negative spaces. I've been drawing a few weird perspectives lately, so I'm going to try this approach here to see if I can fix it. Thank you for this helpful tutorial.

I think it's one of the best ways to 'trick' your own mind when you get overwhelmed by a shape or scene. Glad I could introduce you to it!
