I'm a Krita user since 2020, it improved a lot since then, has many new features, and the performance really improved significantly. I feel that most important things were showed. The one I miss and might be important for beginners is saving your document! After a document is created it's not automatically saved as a permanent file, so go File -> Save or Save As -> Here select a folder and name the document -> Select the .kra format from the drop down menu to keep all the layers you have -> Once the piece is done, you can go -> Save As -> Select the PNG format, and now your piece is turned into a simple image. A few tips I would've found really helpful as a beginner: - Go to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Here you can set up many things, like how often you want an autosave, choose between color selector versions, customize shortcuts, change the color and shape of the brush outline or add a cursor to it to make it more visible in certain situations. - When a brush is selected, the right click (that I recommend binding to a button on a stylus) opens a quick menu that is also customizable, has a color selector, brushes can be added to it, has some brush settings that are accessible from there. - Transformations distort the pixels permanently, so always make a copy of the thing you stretch, and the liquify can get really laggy if you're using a big document, so you can select part of your image with the selection tool and liquify only that part. - The size of the document can get tricky once you have too many layers on a big canvas and Krita will eventually start crashing. You can always save your image in a new document and merge or delete all layers you don't need anymore to make it run more stable. Once I had a 7000x10000 pixels document with about 100 layers and the only way I managed to work with that is by using this trick. - I found zooming easier by pressing Z, then left click is zoom in, and alt+left click is zoom out, then press '1' any time to get your zoom level back to 100%, or '2 and 3' to fill horizontally or vertically, '4' and '6' rotate the canvas by 15° and '5' resets it. You get less pixel distortion this way than with free zooming. Also pressing TAB can temporarily turn off the hud to have a more comfortable look at the picture. - Ctrl + shift + F also puts Krita in full screen mode, and some extra space can be gained by Configure Krita -> General -> Window -> Multiple Document Mode -> Set this to 'Subwindows' then you can toggle the full screen for one window in the top right corner, then go to View -> Check out 'Show Status Bar', this gives a little bit of extra space for the canvas, but it's up to preference. - For the Recording that was briefly mentioned, all I want to add, that I recommend saving in JPEG instead of PNG, using half the size of the canvas, and lowering the quality to about 80%, that way the recording size will be about 1/16 of the size it saves by default, and those recording really add up quickly if they are not deleted.

Oops! I forgot to save! It's a sickness really. But it should be noted that Krita also has an Autorecover feature for when bad things happen.

Thanks for the other tips! Some I didn't even know myself. I tried to keep it to the basics that any newbie would need to just start but I'll incorporate some more info as I make more videos.

How can I zoom by pressing Z?

@@damnekko Z switches to the Zoom Tool, then left click to zoom in, alt+ left click to zoom out, or you can select a rectangle with left click + drag to zoom to a specific portion.
