There is so much internalized experience on display in this video, how every line and stroke are placed once, confidently, in correct perspective, just casually dropping those three columns in between the windows and they’re spot on, knowing exactly where the center of the ceiling is without having to construct it from intersecting diagonals, putting in room details like the fireplace and bookshelves and making pleasing choices about them on the fly, this video is a master class in seeing how the years of practice and experience become like reflexes.

I’ve been teaching myself to draw for the past year, I’ve seen some progress but not as much as I want. I am also learning build things in a technical college. One of the things I realized during the process of learning to build is that is so much more productive to have someone mentor you in person. Is it the same when it comes to drawing/ sketching? I have been looking for a in person class in my area but no luck yet. 🧐

Artistic ability can be learned! Some people start with more of it built in and others have to work hard to make even simple improvements. The biggest prerequisite is that you love it enough to put in the work and stick with it.

Picasso is walking in his favorite park and a patron of the arts recognizes him "Mr Picasso, I am so honored can I commission from you a sketch" So he does and hands it over with a price tag. With a bit of sticker shock she ask Mr Picasso this is such a great honor, and I am happy to pay but there is maybe a mistake this price for such a short amount of time, it only took you a few moments. Without skipping a step He just says. No Madame it took me my whole life.

The only insight we can offer is that it often feels really difficult when you're starting out, and might be difficult for a while.
